Gets Dark Early Now

Wow. I don't like it. But hey, only 50 days until the days start getting longer again!!

This time of year it becomes a challenge for me to not to slip into a negative, depressing state of mind. I find that if I deliberately determine to not allow those negative tendencies to take over, I can overcome it!

Additionally, lots of social activity is the main thing for me.

How do you all who are affected by it take this thing called seasonal affective disorder?

My wife struggles with not enough sun in Dec and Jan. I do fine. Burnt if you can cheer for the Leafs I can't imagine that everyday lack of vitamin D could get you down.

I have a lot of trouble without sunlight and live in sunny Alberta actually the sunniest place in all of Canada supposedly.

Winter is hard for me, but all the extra work and new babies keeps me on my toes. I love a new challenge and that is why this year is going to be very hard with my 75% reduction of MY herd and the loss of my right hand gal..

Burnt ,Per I know exactly how you feel or how your wives feel ,and hubby being a "foreigner" has no idea.. :p

It does not bother me nearly as much as it used to. I think it has something to do with getting older maybe? This time of year I can have lots of ambition left before supper but after supper the couch exerts a huge pull on me and all the big plans go down the drain . . .

I hate it. Summer time it don't get dark till after 9pm.....then switch to this.....can't get near what's planned done before dark. Then usually end up doin stuff in the dark.

Come on March 14!!!!!!!

Uh huh...yeah..puttin out hay in the dark...fun stuff.

Mr Lilly cuts the strings on one side of the bale, I pull em off from the other side....and there's always one ole cow that just can't wait.

SAD is not a nice thing. Several in my family are a affected by it. We have started using "happy lights". The bulbs have the same wave length as sunlight. It's supposed to help.

I tried one of those a few years ago, I used it everyday for 2 hours a day while on the computer and found it did nothing for me. Natural sunlight is the best for me. Thankfully my house is built to let the sun in throughout the house in the winter and I have also found that getting out for an hour of me time to go for a walk or a run really helps as well.

LOL Lilly that sound like when I describe our last valentines evening hubby and I had. It was sweaty ,sticky and a lot of panting going on...

We had to put in a prolapsed uterus back in a cow.. Got it in though and she raised her calves..

The bad thing was that it was after a huge home cooked steak and lobster dinner and 2 or 3 bottles of wine.. :help:

You need to learn how to make a good chicken and sausage gumbo. You´ll long for those short winter days. :D

Your 50 day comment got me thinking :???:

you are fight but it seems to take a long time after the shortest day to notice them getting longer. It was always after the late Feb school break that the kids went from getting on the bus in the dark to getting on in semi daylight.

You sure know how to rub it in, don't you Lilly.

My dad had a saying "As the days get longer, the cold gets stronger".

Thank goodness, that's only true until about March . . . . .
