This red cow evidently jumped a cattle guard, and got in the wrong pasture. Then she mistakenly got moved a couple miles, and has been away from her calf for three or four days. Discovered the problem last evening, but had to do some detective work and book lookin' to figure out where she really belonged. Our latest forty calves didn't ever get tagged, which helped to complicate the situation.

As the day was so hot, I hauled a horse to the pasture and hoped I could get her loaded onto the trailer. All my crew found other things to do for excitement this week-end, so it was a solo project. Guess all is well that ends well. Mommy and junior are back together. :)

Riding upon the cows gathered at the windmill

I'd be there, too, on a hot day like this

Alert but staying put

Found the cow

Head for the pickup and trailer, old girl

You are going right

Getting closer

Go on around the front

Bear a bit more to the right

Doing fine

Just right

Almost there

Right where you belong

Goose, my old buddy and helper

Go find your baby

Yep, that's him

He'd be hungrier but he's been bumming from any other cow that would stand still
