The public is showing some resistance to buying these electric cars.
Continuing to back these "Green" initiatives sure hertz the taxpayer financially. obama sure is collecting a battery of failures, just before the election.
Something to keep your ion, for sure. Hopefully it doesn't get more revolting than it already is.

I'm sure Tam that in your enthusiasm to see the US economy collapse it was just an oversight that you forgot to mention the announcement said it was a temporary halt of production due to overstock....

General Motors has temporarily suspended production of its Volt electric car, the company announced Friday.
GM, which is based in Detroit, announced to employees at one of its facilities that it was halting production of the beleaguered electric car for five weeks and temporarily laying off 1,300 employees.
A GM spokesman told The Hill on Friday that production of the Volt would resume April 23.
"We needed to maintain proper inventory and make sure that we continued to meet market demand," GM spokesman Chris Lee said in a telephone interview.
Lee noted that sales of the Volt were higher in February than they were in January, and added that California recently decided to allow the electric car to qualify for High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in the state.
"We see positive trends, but we needed to make this market adjustment," he said.

Now come on ot , once again you are not to slow that you can't understand about conservatives and the economy. One more timeConservatives do not want the US economy to collapse. We point out that under your idols leadership it will collapse. So with that it seems that you ot are the one who wants the US to collapse since you are promoting policies that are failing right and left, day in day out.
So if you do not see that conservative want the US to prosper then you are a complete fool. I know you won't repeat that garbage because that would only show that you are a fool. You aren't a fool are you? Your respense will answer that question.
A temporary shutdown is a failure on their part because they didn't have a handle on units needed. Stopping and starting production is expensive to say the least. The question is though will they ever really start back up?

DETROIT—General Motors Co. could be in for a lengthy investigation over why the batteries on several Chevrolet Volt cars caught fire, potentially hurting sales of the plug-in vehicle.
GM repeatedly has said a coolant leak is behind the problem, which caused three of the Volt's lithium-ion batteries to spark or catch fire days or weeks after being damaged in crash tests. GM has said the battery is safe and that the company likely can fix the problem without a major redesign.
But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration isn't sure that explanation is correct, people familiar with the agency's thinking said.
Meanwhile, GM and its dealers face increasing fallout from the fires. About two dozen Volt owners have taken up GM's offer to buy back their vehicles. And dealers are complaining to GM about the impact on business, worried that they won't be able to sell the cars, which cost $41,000.
"It's a great car but, unfortunately, this hurts peoples' impression," said Todd Capoto, a Chevy dealer in Chittenango, N.Y. "If there's an issue with the battery, it's going to make it difficult to sell. If GM gave me an option, I would return mine until it came up with a solution."
GM has said it will do whatever it takes to resolve the problem. Product chief Mary Barra said last week that it was too soon to know the exact cause of the problem or how to solve it. The company believes it can fix the issue without an overhaul of the battery design.
Federal investigators are looking into whether welded areas around the battery were damaged in the crash and contributed to the fires, according to a memo posted last week on its website. A typical NHTSA probe can take 90 days or longer, though the agency has put the Volt incidents on a fast track.
GM is eager to find a solution. In addition to causing consumer jitters, the Volt has become a lightning rod for critics of GM and of the Obama administration's efforts to push development of electric vehicles.......

Six of the Top 20 Best-Selling Cars In America from September 2011 wear Detroit badges. There are two Koreans and two Germans. This leaves ten Japanese cars, none of which are the Nissan LEAF. Not that any of the American cars are named Chevrolet Volt. But if you were curious, the LEAF beat the Volt by 308 sales in September and leads the Volt by 3304 sales through the first three quarters of 2011.
Toyota Camry is the top selling Nissan Altima is second Honda Accord is third, Ford Fusion is fourth and Hyundai Sonata is fifth.
