McCain campaign cries over spilt oil?
Thursday, July 24, 2008
You aren’t supposed to cry about spilt milk, but how about spilt oil? McCain has been on the attack recently because Obama wants to keep the current limits on offshore oil drilling. So today, while Obama was giving a speech to a crowd of over 200,000 people in Berlin, McCain decided to pull his own photo op, and helicopter out to an offshore oil rig near New Orleans.

Unfortunately, the photo op was cancelled. The McCain campaign claims it is because of poor weather, but a more likely reason seems to be because of an oil spill that just happened near New Orleans, closing 89 miles of the Mississippi River and disrupting water supplies. I guess it just isn’t a good idea to give a speech about how safe oil drilling is right in front of an 400,000 gallon oil spill.

Or as Senator Bob Menendez put it:

Look up ‘irony’ in the dictionary and you will find a description of this turn of events. Having to cancel your big oil drilling photo op because of a massive oil spill is like canceling a crime safety photo op because the house next door just got robbed.

Obama’s [Democratic National Convention] speech happens to be scheduled for Aug. 28, the 45th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech.

McCain’s speech, on the other hand, will fall on Sept. 4, the opening night of the NFL season, which features a game between the Washington Redskins and the Super Bowl champion New York Giants.

I heard McCain tonite on the news- and he said that he might have the biopsy results by as soon as tomorrow...Not wishing him bad health- but old folks like him and Senator Byrd who lives in nod off land in Congress should at their ages retire (especially if their health puts them with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel)- enjoy their families and take their grandkids fishing...

McCain Has a ‘Spot’ Removed From His Face

Laura Meckler reports from Bakersfield, Calif., on the presidential race.

John McCain had a “spot” removed today from the right side of his face, near the temple, as a precautionary measure, a campaign aide said today.

The decision to remove the small item came during his regular once-every three month dermatology check-up, conducted earlier today in Phoenix, the aide said. She added that there was nothing to worry about.

A small bandage covers the spot now, on the right side of his face. The left side of his face has a visible scar and is noticeably puffy from melanoma surgery in 2000.

McCain is a four-time skin cancer survivor. In May his doctors declared him to be generally in excellent health.

(NECN: Chicago, Illinois) - Barack Obama saw a doctor Sunday night to deal with a sore hip. The Illinois senator's hip has been sore from basketball for a few weeks, so he's going to see an orthopedic doctor.

Isn't bad hips an old man Problem? Then you have all them Heart problems and High Blood Pressure problems that Blacks have. Good chance McCain will out live Obama.

I did- after 30 years I stepped aside and let the young blood bring in some new ideas- and new direction... You know CHANGE!!  :p

I watch those hearings on C-SPAN and its sad...Several of those old codgers that chair those hearings aren't even aware of whats happening- but they are Chairmen because of Seniority.....Byrd is worst- he needs someone to write out a script for him in huge print of what to say- and do- and has an aide sitting beside him to tell him when he's supposed to do it....Conyers is still pretty sharp- but he loses track of whats going on..Another is Stevens out of Alaska....

One of the ones I've watched for years was Spector- who I really liked to watch on the Judiciary Hearings- sharp guy- good legal knowledge--but now as he ages (seventy-eight) and hasn't got a hair on his head (chemo?) he seems to get more confused in his actions- and gets his thoughts and directions mixed up at times--which then when anyone tries to correct him or get him back on track he gets testy about .....

That makes me wonder what an 80 year old would be doing in the White House- or even a 1 termer that will be 76 when he even finish's his first term.....
