I am trying to find someone that is online now that can help me. I posted in horses and dogs forum but don't know if anyone is around. It is now only 19 degrees here and the people I work for have a blue heeler that is kept outside in a run/shed. I did some improvements to the shed like carpet, pallet up off the ground and sleeping bag for her to sleep on. Are these dogs hardy enough to be outside during this weather? The owners won't let me bring her in the trailer with me and I am worried:(

Please forgive me if I have messed up by posting this here. denise

I really believe the dog will be fine in those conditions. Having a dry place out of the wind and protected from direct contact with the ground is pretty luxurious for most 'working' dogs. A manger full of hay in a barn is pretty good, too.
Years ago, we had a short haired hunting dog which I worried about a bit. She preferred to be outside most of the time, but was inside sometimes in the worst weather. It gets pretty cold here. a minus 25% is not unusual. Wind at 10% can be pretty brutal, too.

Point is, if the dog seems reasonably comfortable, is well fed, and has water that is not frozen, it should be fine. But it may whine and cry to gain your indoor companionship rather than because it is uncomfortable in it's own 'home'.

http://cam.mackinacbridge.org/fullsize.jpg shows the weather 28 miles north Robert Mac. Where is that heat AL GORE talks about. I need a break in the weather in order to go to Florida.

WASHINGTON: Barack Obama has made his most decisive break so far with the past eight years of George Bush by appointing a Nobel laureate in science and a supporter of Al Gore to head his energy and environment team.

COW FART tax from Obama group led by Gore pegs income to the Government from ranchers and feedlots at $75.00 dollars per cow and dairymen at $175.00 per cow. This is nuts!

Hope Farm Bureau can hold this off.
