That Obama needs a serious counterweight in the political arena. But the former party of Lincoln and liberty has now melted down to a fundamentalist core of aging, rural Dixiecrats and intrusive scolds — as small as 20 percent of the populace in the latest polls. Its position on the American spectrum of ideas is somewhere between a doomsday cult and Scientology.

How true!!!

But...don't forget since Jan 20, the number of those that call themselves Democrats is also decreasing.

The only numbers that are increasing are those that call themselves "independents"

A separate Gallup Poll found 35 percent of U.S. adults considered themselves Democrats, 28 percent Republicans and 35 percent independents, the same as at the end of 2008.

But since 2006- it appears those Independents have been voting more for the offerings of the Democrats...

Why else do we have a Senate soon to be made up of 60 Democrats and 40 Republicans and a House made up of 257 Democrats and 178 Repubs...

Like the author so ably put it- yes you have areas made up of " a fundamentalist core of aging, rural Dixiecrats and intrusive scolds"- but that is not the the direction of the majority/major area of the country or the younger generations that will be replacing these old grey haired fogies that want to tell people how to live their lives and be bedroom police...

Enjoy it while it lasts OT. Obviously people are not too happy with the way things have transpired since Jan 20.

Look for some more CHANGE, in the near future!

They voted for Rhetoric, with no detailed plan, for change. And that's exactly what they got.

The change they got was organized confusion, and crisis management, towards Obama's idea of Utopia.

Doesn't look like his reality is too appealing!

Obama is getting high marks as a person, his policies are not. And as people are personally affected by those policies, his approval rating will drop further.

I'm not a koolaid drinker. Those that were fooled by Obama's rhetoric are.

I personally go a little deeper, investigate past actions and aquaintances. I develop my personal level of trust by myself, not by how the MSM portrays an individual.

My comments do not necessarily agree with any article in it's entirety.

Why do I need to agree with the articles you post to be a non-koolaid drinker?

If you are honest with yourself you will realize who's opinion of Obama pre-election, was a more accurate appraisal of how things are playing out!

Even you are starting to questions his policies, more so than when you voted for him. Be honest, am I correct or not?
