They are looking mighty good, Denny. You are lucky you have lots of grass. Ours has kind of fallen by the wayside, since we've gone over three weeks without any moisture.

Dang son. You have got some grass for sure.

It's amazing what water can do.

Calves look good. Sure hope prices will rebound for everyone by weaning time.

Denny,

How long are your calves in a pasture?

The reason I ask is I am considering a more intensive program on an irrigated place. Your abundance of grass triggered me thinking of this. I look at how much grass I have n places and wonder how much more I could get out of it with some fencing,

They have been on these pastures since May 20th it got ahead of them and is staying that way. This is a new lease that is set up in 9 smaller pastures to rotate the old owner said I could run 80 pairs on it with rotation.I have 38 pairs in it and have left all the gates open no sense in rotating as I have an over abundance of grass this year we have grass for an extra 100 pairs so I loaded every pasture we have lightly if we don't get any early snow we'll graze until Newyears I hope..I rotate some other places but they are 60 pair's on 160 acres for 3 weeks then move them I do this 5 time then open all the gates and graze the last 5 weeks on the whole piece at once.Alot of our rented ground is hunter owned so we have to move them off Oct.1st we stock pile some pasture and graze hayfield regrowth late in the season. We will be keeping 70 heifers back this fall so the grass will come in handy next year..

We have buyers here offering $1.20 per lb. at 600 lbs. on steers not to bad.We have'nt had any rain since june 10th other than a few scattered showers on several of my pastures the ponds are dry so we are running water with some electric fence lanes to get them there.I was offered a pasture last night for next year that only hold's 10 pairs but it has running water year round and we winter cows across the fence I will rent it as it will save $500 a winter on electric heaters and they only want $600 per season good deal eh.

I was takeing pictures for our cattlemen's assn's brochure on sunday and there are alot of people here who's pastures are in tough shape I am blessed this year.Where I live it's real sandy and it looks real grim I am hauling all but 2 horses to pasture in a little bit here they have nothing to eat where they are.
