Good Super Sunday Mornin'

Did you ever try to help an old cow, and she showed her appreciation by trying to run over ya? Did you ever place the welfare of your livestock above your own safety? Barnabas, the son of encouragement, placed the work of the Lord, and helping Paul above his own welfare. He formed his opinions on facts rather than on the opinions of others, even his respected friends (Acts 9:26-28) (This next few weeks will require looking up a passage in your own Bible in order to get the most of it.). He also stayed “with” his friend. What characteristics do we list this week? His welfare was secondary to helping others. He stood for right even though it meant standing alone. He was with (as in beside)ya, not just out there cheering you on.. Have yourselves a good Sunday morning, and a good rest of the week too.

Thanks, Shortgrass. Sometimes we find ourselves in a postion to encourage others, and sometimes we are the ones that need encouragement. Sometimes we're the bug and sometimes we're the windshield. I appreciate your "Sunday Mornin' " encouraging. It always helps to get the new week started off right.

Ditto on the windshield and bug thing, Soap. I was thinking the same thing before I scrolled down far enough to read your reply!

Shortgrass, your encouragement is spot on with Barnabas and his encouragement to Paul and others.

The encouragement theme also fits in with the Gospel reading for this Sunday we heard last night from Matthew 5: 1-12, where Jesus encourages us in revealing the beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount.

Jesus said to them "Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad for your reward will be great in heaven."

May all of us try to be help and encouragement to each other in the spirit of the be-happy-attitudes. Let's not be like that cantankerous old cow trying to run over those who try to help and encourage us!

As always Shortgrass, thanks for your help and encouragement here every week. And may everyone have a blessed lenten season as we spiritually prepare ourselves for Easter.
