Did you read the article? I'm not a supporter of the government spying on citizens, but he didn't simply google "pressure cooker" he googled "pressure cooker bomb". And Google, nor the government, turned him in. A private computer company, that was looking through his search history did. Whether or not he worked for that computer company or if his company sent it out for repair after he was terminated isn't clear and doesn't matter. It's the company's computer to do as they see fit. With workplace violence an issue in this country and a former employee's search results showing terms such as pressure cooker bombs and backpacks, a visit was warranted. Better to be safe than sorry.

Too much room for overzealous prosecution here.

The way things are going, soon it will be against the law to simply search the internet for "pressure cooker", "bombs", or "backpacks"?

but he didn't simply google "pressure cooker" he googled "pressure cooker bomb".

I realize there is more to the story then just a google search for the pressure cooker bomb like the one used in Boston,..

the man was a bit disgruntled and was recently fired... so the authorities went overboard a bit and treated him like a suspect..

well he is a potential suspect... he fits a "profile"...

but here is where my outrage starts,.. he did fit a profile and deserved to get a visit...

but how many of US after the Boston bombing did similar searches,.. just wanting to understand what was involved and for most of US,.. what to look for if a person suspects another is a terrorist?

so just as he may have been completely innocent.. as we were
but his other actions,... getting fired.. being mad about getting fired... could have made that search more then just an innocent curiosity added together he looked suspicious and fit a profile..

so what do you do,...ignore a simple google search or investigate?

sure wish the FBI would have spent a little more time investigating the warnings they received on the Fort Hood shooter and the Boston bombers.. but then that would be profiling...
