Gore endorses Obama and promises to help him

By NEDRA PICKLER
Associated Press Writer

FLINT, Mich. (AP) -- Al Gore announced his endorsement of Barack Obama Monday and promised to help the Democrat achieve what eluded him - the presidency. In a letter to be e-mailed to Obama supporters, the former vice president and Nobel Prize winner wrote, "From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected president of the United States."

In 2000, Gore won the popular vote but lost the disputed 2000 election to George W. Bush, who captured Florida and its electoral votes after a divided Supreme Court ended the recount. Since then, Gore has made combatting global warming his signature issue, and has been recognized worldwide for his effort - from an Academy Award for a documentary for his effort to the Nobel prize.

Gore is one of the most popular figures in the Democratic Party, but he maintained a low profile in the primary campaign. He's planning to appear with Obama at a rally in Detroit Monday night.

Gore also asked for donations to help fund Obama's effort - the first time he's asked members of his Web site AlGore.com to contribute to a political campaign.

Well, well, well.........Bammy's campaign has officially received the "Kiss of Death"! And from a pendejo who was so "popular" he couldn't even carry his home state! Maybe he can get Michael Dukakis' endorsement, too. Is George McGovern still alive?

Deosn't sound like many Dimmocraps want to be Bammy's VP, either.........

Michael Moore could be VP, but he is a better fit for the cabinet. The kitchen cabinet with the twinkies in it.

Yeah, McGovern's still alive, sort of, and already gave Bammy his kiss of death.

In TN. as elsewhere the Bush people did an excellent job of selling the conservative right. I am not so sure he enjoys the same popularity with them now as during his election campaign yrs.

And as Jay Leno said," John McCain's campaign suffered a serious setback, Yeah President Bush came out and endorsed him today."

Reactions on yesterday's endorsement of Barack Obama by Al Gore was underwhelming. They ranged from "Yawn" to "timid" to complaints of Gore's "lousy timing".

Perhaps one day someone will write a chapter about Al Gore in a new book titled “Profiles In Uncourage.”
Democratic presumptive Presidential nominee Barack Obama finally got what he and former rival Senator Hillary Clinton had pined for all these months — THE endorsement from former Vice President Al Gore.

But it came so late in the game that the person who’ll be most impressed with it will be Tipper Gore. --Joe Gandelman, The Moderate Voice: Obama Gets “The” Endorsement: The Lousy Timing of Al Gore

Al Gore unquestionably has taken to heart his role as an elder statesman -- he stayed so far above the fray of the Democratic presidential race that the fray was fast becoming an afterthought when he finally bestowed his imprimatur on Barack Obama today. --Don Frederick, LA Times Blogs: Al Gore Wraps His Arms Around Barack Obama

Maybe Gore is hoping to be picked for VP.... he can bring his impression of a screaming black man to the ticket, which sounds more realistic than Obama's.
