Californian deserves what they get, they get rid of a democratic liberal to replace him with a Republican liberal.

That state has no hope left and in the end the rest of us will pay for it!

California is paying for rich Orange County folks pushing Proposition 13 three decades ago. Real estate taxes are grandfathered and the poor and middle class working are paying more taxes than the rich. Schools failed 2 decades ago.

Immigration is a recent phenomenon compared to Proposition 13.

ssshhh it gets so old with you libs spouting off this same old crap, poor and middle class paying more in taxes. NO WAY!

California is taxed to death in all sectors, Business regulations and taxes are out of hand, EPA regulations, property taxes you name it and California has taxed it to death.

Poor people are not the ones unfairly taxed by no means! Poor people get a free ride in most cases while the rich pay the poor peoples share!

You liberals love your class warfare!

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Saturday that if fellow Republican governors threatening to turn down stimulus funds follow through on their pledge, he'd be happy to have their share.

Spoken like A True Liberal which he is!

I say he should have arranged an earthquake and let that entire state of moronic liberals slide into the sea.

Seriously, this state was the laboratory for Reagonomics with Proposition 13 ensuring crappy schools and roads and unfair distribution of taxes. If they had not had Silicon Valley, they would have been in the toilet a decade or more ago.

Are you saying that they only have a revenue problem and not a spending problem? There are two sides to a defecit. At some point the politicians are actually going to have to grow a backbone and so NO to spending.

I agree with you about there being both a revenue and a spending problem. When they had decent tax income from the dot.com boom, they managed, but no longer. However if you have been to California, you know that their schools are bad and their highways old and crumbling. They do do all sorts of things that drive me crazy. I used to own land there but frankly was glad to get rid of it, because the laws that they have are so restrictive. I don't know about too much spending. I do know that I have relatives there who believe the government should support them and entitlement seems to be a California illusion. As if they don't realize that me and their other relatives are footing the bill for their living off the government.

I have never been to California. Have relatives and friends that have been glad to get out. Why did you blamed Reagonomics and Prop 13 for the bad schools and roads, but never mentioned the restrictions on property and businesses that also affect the revenue stream to the states treasurery?

The old addage of so goes California, so goes the rest of the country is going to bring this country into revolt.

California is quite different than the rest of the country due to its craziness both liberals and conservatives. The reason I blamed Prop 13 is because I know what my mother pays on her property and what others who have held their property for decades pay compare to those who bought more recently. My impression is that a HUGE amount of tax revenue is missed because of the disparities in property tax and that this is in addition grossly unfair.

I dont think that there are many conservatives in California. Even the Republicans are becoming more liberal all the time. Much to their detriment too I might add.

The property tax issue in CA propably is a huge issue. In high growth areas where land values escalate rapidly and property tax rates rise dramatically too, it creates problems for those whose incomes aren't rising as fast. Mainly elderly and middle class people. In many cases people are forced to sell the property in order to pay the property taxes. From what I read Prop 13 is probably better than what they had prior to it. Imagine what the tax rates would be if the legislature could raise taxes at their discretion with simply a majority vote. It is 1% of assesment max now. Would it be 2, 3, 4 or 5 %? What sort of busness climate would be left? How many would have left CA for elswhere?

If CA is missing a HUGE amount of tax revenue by prop 13 and the people had confidence in the legislature and gov't spending it wisely, wouldn't the politicians be able to get the support of the people to raise the necessary funds? Obviously the people are saying NO. Are the politicians listening?

I saw the problem in California first hand 34 years ago. We were there on vacation and I did something wrong and my dad was lighting my butt on fire in a parking lot. My Uncle came running over and grabbed my dad and told him, "You are in Californian now not Oklahoma you can not be spanking your kid like that out in public, or someone will call the cops on you"

As grateful as I was for my uncle Trying to save my hide, now 34 years later all them spoiled brats that never got a good Midwestern butt spanking are running the country! No wonder they are messed up as much as they are, not enough switching when they were young!
