I'll be there, Oldtimer. Should be very interesting. I am with Tallgrass Beef Co.

I sure would like to go...Much will depend on the weather- and availability of a son to handle things at home...My cows won't be much of problem- but again this year I took in a neighbors herd to feed- that could start calving about then

I'd have a better idea about the seminar if I could read that purple font on their website. I can't hardly make any of it out.

:???: :???: when I look at the website it's a greenish, brown just a little darker than the color here on Ranchers.

PC you might have an Irlin issue. Check out "Irlen Syndrome". For me the site is brown and I can read it fine.

Okay I'd never heard of Irlen Syndrome, and after reading 3 different webpages of info on it, I'm happy to report that's not my problem. I have issues of a psychological nature, not optical.

Maybe it's just our monitor, who knows. The website looks dark green with some lettering being dark purple and some light purple. Wait a minute, is the bull at the top red to anyone else??  :p

Would be interesting but we start calveing feb 1st on a few AI'ed cows and March 3rd on the rest with the AI'ed heifers due somewhere the end of Feb.

The tech college is having Steve Kenyon come here Jan 19th -21st to speak and instruct on winter grazeing, bale grazeing, cell grazeing plus other topics I'm sure. Anyone know him or of him is it worth $75 and 3 days ???

I know Steve, he's a bright young guy. I don't agree with all his theories but for people that are prepared to change their ideas of how to run cows he's got lots to tell you. His business is based on doing everything custom - rents his landbase then custom grazes/winter feeds cows for other people. Externalizes the risk of owning the cattle that way. I think his speaking/ mentoring activities must be earning him a good income now too.
The weakness I see in that system is that ultimately it relies on someone else taking the risk - with the way guys are downsizing/exiting the business up here his supply of people wanting cattle custom fed/grazed might dry up.
$75 is a steal of a deal for 3 days ?? did you mean that - he usually charges $750 for the 3 day course.
He has a website at www.greenerpasturesgrazing.com

But, Oldtimer. Wasn't it said that S. America knows more about the "grassfed business"? :D

If that seminar was down this way, I'd definitely go and learn a few things!

Don't know if they know more- definitely much of their area has the ability for lot less input production...

When you look at all the empty, closed, or for sale feedlots-- and no predictions of seeing $2 Corn again- you have to wonder the direction the industry will take.... :???:

Yeah it's $50 for the 1st two days and the 3rd day is optional and more in depth and for a limited amount of students thats an extra $25. I would bet the sponsors are paying his fee's.

Everyone,

We have contacted the folks who are maintaining the website and they will try to get the coloring problem solved. About half the people who try to view it, can't. I wasn't able to last night, but now I can. Please keep checking back and see if they get it fixed.
