Great, great, great weekend

Tam and I took advantage of the nice weather and my son being at home and not calving to take off to see our oldest in Alberta. About 650 miles which we knocked off last Thursday, Friday we toured around a bit and came across the KC Saddlery in Red Deer. The owner makes most of the tack and stocks some handmade bits and braided bosals and romal reins from some real talented artisans. Great shop and a nice place to visit.
We kinda hung around the house Saturday while Tam baked buns and Pecan pies and I BBQed some ribs for supper. Sunday our daughter and SIL treated use to a great Easter supper along with my niece, her husband and my great nephew. We ate too much. :D
We took off Monday morning and to avoid traffic we headed a little farther west and followed a secondary Hi-way called the Cowboy trail south . We had a nice view of the Rocky mountain. Some pretty big fancy houses and riding arenas. After delivering a portrait painting Tam did on a little boy we cleared the city and called per. Well he talked me through a couple of tricky turns and told me the way to get to his house. Well thanks to ranchers I recognized his cattle and his air seeder and Tam saw his name on the road sign. After a great but to short visit we got directions from his place to get us back to the #1 highway to take us home.
Except they way we were going looked familiar as well. Sure enough those are the feed bunks and elevators of Arrowwood Alberta that BWARD has posted showing their Santa Gertrudis cattle. Well a little investigative work we were driving in the Dad's lane as they were coming out and after a couple of funny looks when i told them they were who I was looking for B said "Follow us" so back down the road a little way and we got to their ranch fed the bulls and horses and had great little visit. B and her husband and I went to the same college many moons ago so we had that in common as well as ranchers. So after another great but short visit off we went again. Well we finally made the #1 highway but didn't quite make it home last night.
On the way today I stopped at a friend that is selling his place on Saturday by auction and made a deal to gather up the pieces of his Dutch industries wind mill so I might get mine back in working order.
I'm tired after about 1400 miles but I had a GREAT time. :D
