In this story from the National Post, a kid gets excluded from a lunchtime draw for a toy because his lunch was not environmentally/politically correct.

Jackboot bully tactics by the teacher - but that's O.K.

Instead, she said, schools should focus on teaching kids the fundamentals of science so that they can explore environmental issues themselves and draw their own informed conclusions as they get older........

Very good point that should be applied to all subjects !!!

interesting article, eye opening, well worth reading.

“If we want to teach people about the environment, I can understand that,” he said. “But surely there’s a better way than to penalize kids. The goal wasn’t achieved anyway. At the end of the day my son doesn’t know why he shouldn’t use a Ziploc bag. It’s not only the bag, it’s the whole idea that we’re being brainwashed from everywhere. They told us Ziploc bags are bad, so we’ve stopped thinking about it and just started applying the rule.”

are our schools teaching children how to learn, or how to do as they are told?

I think I received a fair share of both in school,.. and how to learn and research was really fine tuned by the military.

(the military learned that it was impossible to teach technicians about everything, so they focused on teaching you how to use a tech manual, find information quickly and to develop trouble-shooting plans that work)..
