About a half dozen people temporarily laid on the ground blocking the Montgomery Christmas Parade for a little less than five minutes as part of a protest of the fatal shooting of Michael Brown on August 9, 2014.

As the protestors lay on the ground and another stood in the street with his hands up, about 15-20 people along the route began chanting "Hands up, don't shoot."

Cecile Sutton, a Montgomery resident who participated in the demonstration, said the act was to make the public aware of different cases of police brutality, citing the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri and the choking death of Eric Garner in Staten Island, New York as examples.

"We just felt like nothing has really been done in Montgomery and this place was as good as any," Sutton said. "This is where civil rights started so we felt like it was appropriate to say something and make a statement."

Sutton said she was not a part of any group and that the demonstration was "a collective effort among citizens."

"We just wanted to make a statement and we just wanted to make the city aware that those things are happening and this is as good a place as any where people are gathered to get people's attention," Sutton said.

The entire protest lasted about 4 minutes and 15 seconds.

they need to make it more real before US whities will take them serious..

first they need to grab a shop owner and choke the **** out of him while taking a few large handfuls of cigars..

then in act two,.. they need to smoke a few blunts.. just to get the crowd watching some time to forget about them choking the poor shop owner..

act three may be a bit difficult to pull off.. but they will need to beat the crap out of a police officer.. and try to take his gun..

any security standing by would do for this act..

then if none of them didn't get shot and killed they need to pretend they did..

just pretending they are dead isn't getting my attention...

they really need to show the whole story.. because as of now.. I just think they are one bunch of ignorant lefties..

The New York Police Department is investigating reports a man is driving from Tennessee to New York to kill two more police officers. The threat comes a day after a gunman killed two New York officers and on the same day a Florida law enforcement veteran died after he was shot.

Fox News obtained a copy of an NYPD text message sent to officers about the possible threat, which the suspect allegedly posted on the social media site Instagram. The day before, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28, posted a message threatening police on Instagram before killing two officers, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu as they sat in their patrol case in Brooklyn. Brinsley later killed himself in a nearby subway station.

In his posts, Brinsley said he was responding to the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, who died following encounters with the police.

The suspected in the most recent threat has not been identified.

Florida shooting

The day after the New York shooting, veteran Florida officer Charles Kondek, 45, was killed in Tarpon Springs, Fla., about 30 miles northwest of Tampa, Reuters is reporting. Kondek was reportedly responding to an early morning call when he was shot and killed.

The suspected shooter, who has yet to be identified, was taken into custody after fleeing the scene.

Update: The story was corrected Dec. 21 at 2:31 p.m. to reflect the threat came from Tennessee and was directed towards New York officers.
