I am, unfortunately, having to hold things down at the hospital, but I am working with a wonderful lady who has become a close friend---widowed at a young age and left to raise 2 wonderful boys on her own....and BOY has she done a great job!! So...to ALL MOMS OUT THERE!! Hats off to ya, ladies!!!

Well, it has been quite the day.

Plans do often go awry and today was one of them.

Wife was off to church with daughter number two and daughter number one was to return home form over nighting at a friends house. Then we would all go out to an early supper.

Let's see - the the rain hit and the cows got out. After a mad retrieval we noticed - cannot believe it - our first case of pink eye - so rounded her up and doctored. Still have time to go out to the restaurant.

But, daughter number two starts the laundry and immediately floods the basement. Big clean up with all involved. I do a little electrical work and will replace the pump out tomorrow morning. Still have time to make the reservations.

Then we have the bulls start a fight that ends up on the front lawn - right through my nice new - but now very bent gate. A little action for the old man as I wade in with a whip and a few well chosen words. Saved the flower beds and the newly planted trees after they went through the temporary electric fence we use to keep the cows out of the "good part" of the yard. Manage to get them sorted and let them finish the fight in another field that just happened to have a gate open. We think we can make the reserved time.

Rain hits harder and power goes out at wifes place of employment. Well, reservations are out and I now am enlisted by her boss to help with a small clean up and fix a couple of electrical thingy's until tomorrow when the electicians can sort out the problems.

Daughters make a pretty good supper for us at about 6 p.m. because that is the time we managed to get home.

After a very short supper, two normally friendly and mature daughters - 16 and 19 get into a huge fight. I still have no idea why - probably never will. Dad weighs in - no whips this time and sends each daughter to a neutral corner.

Tired and frustrated - took the old girl out for an ice cream cone - 20 mile drive to Dairy Queen.

Peace at last!

Arrive home a few minutes ago and tossed in a hat first to make sure the coast was clear. All is quiet and daughters appear to be speaking to each other again.

Wife has shower and goes to bed.

Dad sits in front of computer and wonders - "Just where did the day go?"

Happy Mom's Day to wife and to all others out there who "Have been there and got the T-shirt!"

B.C.

PS - Drat! Just got a call from wifes boss - I think I am about to head out to his place and stop his basement from flooding! Maybe I will not go to bed tonight.
