An 18 year old boy that was in a shooting accident 2 years ago, when he was pulling a shot gun from behind a seat of a pick up, the gun went off hitting another kid in the arm.
Last night at his grandpa with a couple of his cousins the topic came up. Just a few hours later the young man shot him self. He only lived within 200 yards of the young man that shot himself last spring. Rex and I had a church assignment of visiting each month (home teachers) for this family. The father in this family hauled hay with the community the day the diver were looking for Jody, plus offer help the rest of that summer,

you never understand why, or what was so bad that they would consider it, but I suppose that is where the "walk a mile in my shoes" comes into play..... I have seen too many of these, and i wish I had the power to see the future, so I could step in and help....problem is around here every one has a "tough face" and you never know what thoughts lurk behind the curtains....

Sorry to hear that…

My best friend, like a brother, I was at the house when they brought him home as a baby, wife #2 just left him. (she was much Younger than he) He is REALY DOWN, has a 38 Shell sitting on his table and keeps picking it up and playing with it with a funny look in his eyes.

I wrote on it "STUPED".

I am a good listener _ He shows up about 2 or 3 times a day and I just lesson. Stays for dinner. That seems to Help!

He is in his 50's and his Girls don't see what I see _ I try to see that he has his Grandchildren, me or other friends around all the time. _ It seems to be helping.

He loves to pull Pritical Jokes on other people.

It's keeping me busy thinking them up...

Yesterday we caught a bucket full of gofers and put them over the fence into his City Brothers Yard.

We just learned that a young (35) year old that was a friend of Mr.
FH's brother, shot himself this week. He was divorced, but no
one seems to know what his problem was. Just went home from
work one evening and did it. His mother found him.

We had a wonderful horse shoer in W. Montana. He was so talented
and a super nice guy. He wound up shooting himself when he was
about 30 years old. It was such
a shock. His step-dad told us later that those that commit suicide are in
such pain, that it is like looking through the wrong end of a pair of binoculars.
The world just narrows down to you and your pain. You cannot see
the rest of the world and it just gets to be too much to handle.
That explanation was about the best I've ever heard as to the
whys of suicide. It's a scary, sad thing, for sure.

I feel for everyone that is involved.

We have a very knowledgeable retired dairy owner that hangs out at our store around noon. One of his workers had a freak accident on his farm a few years back. After the investigation it was blamed on the company that built one of his structures. When it was all over with he had a company bulldozed everything that the company in question built and shut the place down.

He was hanging out one day and asked if I wanted to buy that part of his land and tossed out a number. I told him sure not knowing how many acres or anything. We called a surveyor and 2 weeks later were sitting in a lawyer’s office singing paperwork.

Two weeks latter right before lunch he asked if it was ok if he invited a few people over for lunch so we cooked up some extra food. His guests were his workers parents and brother that died 6 months earlier. We all talked and hung out. Right at the end he handed the mother medium size box and heads for his truck and drove off. I called to one of my guys to follow him and to not let his eyes off him.

In the top of the box there was an apology note and a few other papers that looked official. The bottom of the box was packs of 100’s, 50’s, and 20’s. I called my worker and he told me that he thinks he was headed out to the ice cream place. They asked me where the cash come form and I told them that he just sold me a chunk of his land and after they counted the money all but $10,000 of it was there.

After they left I drove out to the ice cream shop and he was sitting there with glazed over eyes and a cup of ice cream in his hand. We took him back to my place and he just sat there staring off into space till he fell asleep. He slept for 12 hours and woke up in a panic not knowing where he was or what had happened, we fed him and took him back to his truck. A few hours latter he shows up like it was any other day.

Nothing was said about what happened for a few weeks till he walked into my office and asked what happened to him that day. We still fed him 4 or 5 times a week and he’ll be there anytime you need anything. If you ask him to dive anything but a truck you can see the sweat roll off his face. The biggest peace of farm equipment I have seen him on was my zero turn lawn mower since the accident. He gets us to cut his hay and the buyer has to haul in there own loader or pay someone to load it. We do contract him anytime we cut hay and need one more driver but will not let us hire him to work in our store.

Good thing that you kept an eye on him or this story would have
most likely had a different ending.

These things are a wake up call for all of us. If we can just be
aware and care enough...but as jigs said, people wear a tough
face and so many times, in fact MOST of the time, you just don't
know what they are thinking...or facing.
