Yep. That same person that claims sex between two men is their secret in the bedroom, yet is for allowing two men matrimony. To hell with the message it sends to the kids.

Pope Francis Suggests Gay Civil Unions May Be Tolerable

By Church In Interview With Italian Paper Corriere Della Sera

Posted: 03/05/2014 10:28 am EST

Pope Francis has signalled that he could see the Catholic church tolerating some forms of same-sex civil unions -- though not marriage -- when it comes to situations such as medical care and property for gay couples.

In an interview with the Italian daily Corriere della Sera, the pope said that "matrimony is between a man and a woman," but moves to "regulate diverse situations of cohabitation (are) driven by the need to regulate economic aspects among persons, as for instance to assure medical care," according to a translation by Catholic News Service.

"It is necessary to look at the diverse cases and evaluate them in their variety," Francis said.

While the remarks were far from endorsing same-sex marriage, something Francis and his predecessor Pope Benedict XVI have spoken out against, they represent the latest in what many Catholics and church observers have read as a more gay-friendly tone of the church under the pope, who was elected nearly a year ago.

In an interview over the summer, the pope famously said, "If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” Francis' call for the church to focus more broadly on positive messages about Jesus Christ and love as opposed to focusing narrowly on gay marriage, abortion and contraception, has also been widely reported.

I think that has been suggested many times by more conservative types, but that wasn't good enough for the liberals, like yourself OT.

And I'm not Catholic.

Gay marriage is nothing but a scam by lawyers. The divorce rate will double and just who do you think makes money off those?

Wrong again... I think the Constitutional issues that the gay/lesbian couples are being denied now could be met with a law allowing civil unions that will give those unions the same status as marriage in regards to the over 1000 economic/property situations that now exist for married couples...

I don't think homosexuals could do much worse than heterosexuals when it comes to divorce:

Divorce Rate Statistics of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Marriages

Various studies on US rate of divorce show significant differences when a comparison is made in 1st, 2nd and 3rd marriage breakups in America. The marriage breakup rate in America for first marriage is 41% to 50%; the rate after second marriage is from 60% to 67% and the rate in America for 3rd marriage are from 73% to 74%. Reports also say that couples with children have a slightly lower rate of breakup as compared to couples without children. This is due to the fact that being childless is one of the prime causes behind divorce in America. Also, the children of divorced parents are prone to divorcing 4 times more than the children of couples who are not divorced.

But there'll be more of them, Einstein. Just think about all the heterosexual people that will get married just for the tax breaks and benefits.

Opening that can of worms ain't very smart.

But the no one has accused you of that........................

all he is calling for is about what most of US would accept..

all along many of US have voiced the same opinion..

but that is not what is happening in this country.. we are being FORCED to acknowledge and participate in their lifestyle,..
no matter how deviant they get..

we have a church forced to allow a gay wedding.

a photographer getting sued over not wanting to participate..

a baker,.. a florist.. getting sued.. a solder getting persecuted..
clergy in the military censored and not allowed to preach on the issue's Biblical points..

I really don't care what they do.. just don't force others to be part of it..

I know you won't be able defend the liberal's position so you will change the subject to something else.. but the fact is..

We really don't care what they do.. just don't force US to be part of it..

The kids won't have a say in the matter. They'll be as screwed up as a "Soup Sammich".

And that ain't just the kids of the couples. ALL kids will see this crap and be wondering, WTF?

I really doubt you could prove your point OT..

for as pissed off at hypo as I am right now.. His comment is correct..

and your is not
,.. what we are being forced to do is acknowledge and participate in their marriages.. ..

they don't want a civil union.. they want a marriage.. and they want to be able to do it in your church with everyone forced to participate..

but feel free to prove US wrong with actual facts..

Not sure what they want... But I think giving civil unions the same status as marriages for all economic/property issues should be enough to settle the Constitutional violation issue-- and take away the major legal part of their argument if they can't show damages...

Poll: 50 percent say gay marriage a right

By Mario Trujillo

Half the respondents to a recent survey believe gay marriage is protected under the Constitution.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll released Wednesday found that 41 percent do not agree that the equal protection clause of the Constitution guarantees the right of gay people to marry.

The poll also found support for gay marriage has reached an all-time high of 59 percent — a boost of 2 points since last year. Some 34 percent are opposed to it.
Seven in 10 Democrats support gay marriage, while 61 percent of independents feel the same. However, a majority of Republicans, 54 percent, continue to oppose it, with 40 percent in support.

Currently, 17 states and the District of Columbia allow gay marriage, while 33 states ban it in some way. In those 33 states, support for gay marriage has reached 53 percent, according to the poll.

The numbers come as a judges ruled same-sex marriage bans in a handful of states, from Utah to Virginia, are unconstitutional. The spate of rulings came after the Supreme Court last year invalidated a portion of the Defense of Marriage Act, which defined marriage on the federal level as between a man and a woman.

The ruling has been cited in most of the cases, though the High Court was silent on whether states themselves have the obligation to allow same-sex marriage. In their rulings, many judges have said the issue will eventually have to be decided by the Supreme Court.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) recently vetoed a state bill that critics say would have allowed businesses to cite their religious beliefs when refusing service to gay people. The bill sparked an intense backlash from gay rights groups, national Republicans and businesses in the state.

A total of 65 percent of people nationally think business should not be able to refuse service to gay people, even if it violates their religious beliefs.

Another 28 percent think a business should be able to deny service to gay people.

A Democratic-affiliated Public Policy Poll released Tuesday found 66 percent of Arizona residents opposed the measure as well.

Not sure if I agree either with the thinking that private business should not be able to choose who they want to refuse service to--BUT I imagine the thinking there comes from the discrimination images of years back and the "No Blacks Allowed", "No Irish Allowed", "No Catholics Allowed" type signs on business's- and the ensuing court/constitutional rulings needed to do away with that discrimination...

But I do have to give the Pope an ATTA-BOY for putting out the right message of tolerance and love- rather than the message of bigotry, fearmongering and hatemongering put out by some ... No wonder "bullying" has became such an issue with children...

Yep. That same person that claims sex between two men is their secret in the bedroom, yet is for allowing two men matrimony. To hell with the message it sends to the kids.

You brought the subject up! Now you trying to change it again?

Reid Wrong on AFP Criticism

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wrongly blamed the conservative group Americans for Prosperity for promoting a “false” story of a woman whose insurance premiums went up $700 per month. AFP didn’t feature that woman’s story in any of its ads.

it is bad enough what Reid said.. but to top it off he made the crap up..
