Has stevec been deleted????

You know Kola, it's sure nice to know that Sgt. Smiths widow or orphans won't accidentally stumble onto stevec's condeming post here and have to read it. It's kind of like the spitting on our soldiers coming back from Nam. Shouldn't have happened. I appreciate Macon for banning Stevec from here so at least it won't happen on a Ranchers site.

I don't think it needs to be made a habit of banning people on here for sharing their positions and opinions but in steveic's case I Support it 100%. :D

Yeah...he was " out there", no doubts ....BUT....just because certain people didn't agree with him was it fair to wipe him out?

When you want to have a discussion, all sides and view points tend to open up your brain to other things, good and bad. If what he wrote was offensive to some...just ignore him then.

I don't know..... I just wonder who'll get 'tapped' by the magic wand next???

If I vanish....good luck with the farms and ranches this yr!!!!

I don't think he was being treasonous, I think he sees soldiers as victims. Being played for fools. And undoubtedly, in some cases, that is true.

But I think that loses sight of the fact that people join the military for an infinte number of reasons, and the vast majority of the time go into it with eyes wide open.
Making the choice they've made because they wanted to, for whatever reason.
And acting as though they're victims somehow diminishes the sacrifices they make.

Question....I just thought of this. What's to stop him from coming back under another " tag name"???

He could and you could still have him but unknown as to who it is.....

SteveC had more than his fair share of "sharing his position" . He was banned for calling a dead war hero a sucker. That's over the line. No one is trying to get those of the opposite view point banned. He was trying to get banned anyway. This is the high point of his career.

nothing, really.

Usually when someone is banned from a board their entire ISP is banned. But these days, a proxy server (ie, a virtual server with an invented ISP number) is pretty easy to use, so even that doesn't really work.

This is just my opinion, but to have a succesful website some control has to be there.I've seen good websites dissolve because people came in and took over, making the original ones fed-up and leave. There are alot of great people on here, ranchers and non ranchers I'd like to keep it that way..wouldn't you???

Knowing many vets over the years, and spending alot of time at VA hopsitals, few would take kindly to Stevec's portrayal of them....

I am sure if he comes back we would know it within a few posts....so not even a proxy server could hide his thoughts.....(he got what he wanted to be banned from another site),,,,

I've been thinking about what happened here today and I'm still thinking about it. It started me wondering what the founding fathers had to say. Below is part of a speach that I found written by a fellow named David Anderson.

"The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution guarantees four freedoms: freedom of religion, speech, press and assembly. The Bill of Rights was ratified on December 15, 1791. Since that time, those freedoms have been discussed, debated, fought and died for. Since that time, millions of immigrants have come to America to secure those freedoms. The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing. They believed in the power of ideas and debate, not censorship.

In his 1801 inaugural address, President Thomas Jefferson reaffirmed the principle of free speech saying, "If there be any among us who would wish to dissolve this Union or to change its republican form, let them stand undisturbed as monuments of the safety with which error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it." Reason is the tool to use to change opinions—not censorship"

The rest of this speach can be read at the site I will post below.

Yup, thats the way I see it too. Again I say, if you don't like what someone else posts, don't read or respond to it. It just ain't that hard to do.

If we are going to start censorship, I believe I'll find another place to visit and air my paunch. Censorship is BS!

I was just reading about a new book that is out- written by some UofM law professor- but it pertains to the time period of 1918- 1920 (WWI) and that during that time period Montana sent 40 men and 1 woman to Montana State Prison under the charge of sedition- because during that time of a hysterical climate of fear and oppression they criticized the US government for its participation in the war......

Think of the prisons we'd need today :???:

How many think that it is wrong to censor stevec, and then expect certain standards to be followed when they have someone visiting their house. This is Mr. Gravlee's site, so I think it is only fair for him to expect certain standards.

If anyone looked at his website, he has his own forumn set up basically like this one and geuss what; the whole world pretty much avoids him like the plague. If anyone really misses him you shouldn't have much trouble finding him. Kudos to Macon!

I must say I agree with JingleBob.....

The internet is wide open . Now if Mr. Gravelee wants his site to be private then he should set up some sort of registration guidelines, verify the exact ID of the users, etc. or even charge a fee to participate.

If you open a public forum on the ' net'....then that's exactly what it is...PUBLIC....not a private club.

I'd like to ask a little question here.

Jinglebob, if someone drove in your yard and proceeded to tell and insult you with what stevec posted here; "soldiers are suckers, courageous people don't pack guns, scared people do"; and on and on...

What would you do? It is your property...so what do you think you would do? My bet is that you wouldn't listen to that, you would tell him to leave; which is what Macon did with his property.

I think you are being too hard on Macon. Stevec just went too far and hung himself. His last post was totally insulting, disgusting and disloyal to our country and our servicemen. I saw it so I know.

We are a country of free speech, but treason is something else again.
