I'm not a mechanic. Once the problem is identified I can usually do the parts changin' and such but I can't identify things worth a hoot.
I have a 1995 F250 with 80,000 miles on it. The rear driver's side wheel makes a rattling sound. I crawled under the truck and was feeling around. See picture, now below. Where my finger is, that deal is loose and rattles when ever I hit a bump. The other one on the opposite side is solid. What am I touching and does it have anything to do with a wheel bearing??
If anyone know the answer, do you know how much money we are talking for the part and can a guy with some smarts do the repair himself?
Thanks
The thing I"m touching goes all the way around the wheel, obviously.
Here I'm lifting up on the bottom of it and you can see the gap at the top
