USDA's Schafer Unconcerned About South Korean Beef Protests

Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer said current protests in South Korea and calls to renegotiate the recent agreement that allows more U.S. beef to enter the market will not stand up against Korean consumer demand for U.S. beef.

Speaking to reporters on a teleconference Friday, Schafer said South Korean grocery chains "can't wait to get American beef," a view he said was confirmed Thursday night when he spoke to a beef producer who just returned from South Korea.

Didn't need to. You sent my son-in-law over there a few years back! He found the culture quite interesting and was eager to go again, but family responsibilties took precedence and he is retiring soon, having served in the Air Force for 24 years.

I have read in some ag papers that the orders requesting US beef from businesses in Korea are a different story than is being pitched by some of you who persist in giving US beef a bad name every chance you get!

Kind of like all the US beef that we have heard for the last few years from the NCBA cultists that the Japanese wanted- but that has never materialized....

The proof is in the pudding- not what some NCBAer writes in some ag paper-- and the proof is that we are now 5+ years into the BSE issue- and none of these consumers are demanding UNTESTED US beef.....

Or do you think we should wait another 5-10 years Maxine at a cost of $175- 225 an animal for each animal raised by the US producer :???:

Have you thought of running for President :???: You show Presidential qualities   :p
