USDA's Schafer Unconcerned About South Korean Beef Protests
Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer said current protests in South Korea and calls to renegotiate the recent agreement that allows more U.S. beef to enter the market will not stand up against Korean consumer demand for U.S. beef.
Speaking to reporters on a teleconference Friday, Schafer said South Korean grocery chains "can't wait to get American beef," a view he said was confirmed Thursday night when he spoke to a beef producer who just returned from South Korea.
