There's a commercial that comes on...I'm think it's "brought to you by" some National safety board or somethin. It says...."Until your child is 4 ft nine inches tall, they should ride in a car seat/booster seat in a vehicle."

My personal opinion is it's funded or pushed by car seat makers, just tryin to make more money sellin em. Heck I know some adults that still aren't 4ft 9in that are drivin the car themselves !!!! This would mean that my kids would have been ridin in a car seat until they were about 14 years old??? Then they hit the growth spurts and past that. But I think that's a lil bit rediculous. I"m all for small kids bein in car seats for safety. But after they are 4 or 5 years old, they are big enough to sit in the seat and be buckled in. Which is probably where this all stems from. Kids unbuckling themselves in the car when parent's aren't looking. Folks thinkin ok...if they are still buckled in one of those car seats and can't reach the buckle device they can't do that. ( I think Texas Law says kids now hafta be in one until they are 4 years old)
Once again, my opinion, if ya got one that won't leave the seat belt buckled, spank em..ground em...pull over on the side of the road and don't move until they understand that you aren't goin anywhere unless they are buckled.....whatever it takes...... and they'll learn that if they don't leave it buckled there will be consequences to pay.

Ok....lol I'm done now.

Kind of like that Bucky Covington song

We rode bikes with no helmets and still here we are.

That is one verse I have know idea what the name of the song is but the whole song is about all the unsafe things we did as children without Big Government protecting us and "Still Here We Are"

I'm going to be 40 this fall and I know alot of these stupid rules and regulations are being pushed by my generation and some a little younger most have no common sense.

Kind of like here in MN. we have a seatbelt law but you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet now there's a good set of laws.

We have the same laws here....must have on a seatbelt....but helmets on motorcycles aren't required unless you are under 18 or 21 (not sure).

Having the warped sense of humor that I have, my first thought was..ok you got this lil short 4ft 8" mom, drivin her kids to school.....and she hasta have a booster seat herself LOL

If she's like a friend of mine who is 4" 10....she has to have something like that to sit on just to see out of the front windshield!!!!

This lady sits on a booster seat in her mini van!!

My wife is 4-11 and there is a pillow in my truck she puts behind her so she can reach the pedals needless to say she only drives it when needed.

Ty took a bunch of kids swimming at the last rodeo-when he pulled up to the campsite one of the Mom's just freaked about everybody letting their kids drive around with an underage driver-she doesn't know he's 16. I let her carryon then I told her he sits on a case of beer to see over the dash-more BS he's 5'9 and doesn't drink lol. Had alot of fun with her for awhile.

They have the four foot 9 thing here (I think that is the height) but there is also an age excemption for it for those who are short.. We didn't have car seats when I was a kid but I do remember them starting to show up when my cousings started having kids.. I really don't know many parents who follow it with their kids that are over 8 or 9 years old and many don't even follow it with 3 or 4 year olds.. My daughter is such a tiny thing that she will probably be in the "booster" seat for a good long time, makes it hard to drive other peoples kids places mind you because I don't carry around 6 booster seats..

I had friends parents who had to sit on yellowpaes to see over the dash.. These old Indian and Paki women driving big old town cars and Cady's.. All you saw were fingers on the wheel and thick rimmed glasses looking voer the dash.
