I would think a few people here have already read The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan http://www.michaelpollan.com/omnivore.php
Finally finished it this week, it's a real eye opener. I liked how he, with the help of an economist, figured out about how much oil it takes to produce a pound of beef in todays industrial ag.
If you haven't read it you really should. A big problem with industrial ag is the disconnect from the consumer. I know I'll take some Flak on that statement but I really don't care, it's the truth. Corn by-products are in way too many things that we eat. I now look on packages and try not to eat anything with HFCS or other Maize by-products.
I'd like to hear some comments on those who have read the book.
