Seventeen percent (17%) of Likely U.S. Voters now say the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey taken the week ending Sunday, October 30.

New Census Report Shows That 2.6 Million More People Fell Into Poverty. From a New York Times article on the new Census Bureau report:

Another 2.6 million people slipped into poverty in the United States last year, the Census Bureau reported Tuesday, and the number of Americans living below the official poverty line, 46.2 million people, was the highest number in the 52 years the bureau has been publishing figures on it.
And in new signs of distress among the middle class, median household incomes fell last year to levels last seen in 1997.

Economists pointed to a telling statistic: It was the first time since the Great Depression that median household income, adjusted for inflation, had not risen over such a long period, said Lawrence Katz, an economics professor at Harvard. [The New York Times, 9/13/11]

-WASHINGTON — The jobs crisis has left so many people out of work for so long that most of America's unemployed are no longer receiving unemployment benefits.

Early last year, 75 percent were receiving checks. The figure is now 48 percent — a shift that points to a growing crisis of long-term unemployment. Nearly one-third of America's 14 million unemployed have had no job for a year or more.

From Gallup ---Americans' assessments of the job market worsened in November and are now the most pessimistic they have been in the past decade. Nine in 10 say it is a "bad time" to find a quality job, while 8% think it is a "good time." Americans in the workforce are even more pessimistic.

The percentage of American adults with employer-based health insurance continues to decline, falling to 44.5% in the third quarter of 2011 -- the lowest since Gallup and Healthways started tracking it in 2008. More than 17% of adults were uninsured, tying the second quarter of 2011 for the highest on record.

And all I can say about how divided US is, is Obama used Race to get elected and is using race and class warfare to get re-elected. Add to that he ran a government that had the attitude WE WON WE WRITE THE BILLS, and the only BiPartisan vote in the Congress has been AGAINST Obama's wishes.

PLEASE somebody explain to me how this guy is going to explain his success as President to his daughters children?

Oh and before I read about how a Republican candidate makes a gaffe when asked a question again please note what he said his 7 year old daughter's name is? I thought his daughters names were Malia Obama and Sasha Obama :?
