Health Care in Canada Ailing

In Canada,I assume there are people who die on waiting lists to see specialists, awaiting surgery,or transplants but thats not because they couldn't afford the payment.

Dead is dead! Doesn't matter if you die because the Government who assumed the responsibility of its peoples healthcare fails to provide it or you can not pay.

You need to quit watching Michael Moore Movies and believing everything you hear about America's health care. People do not get turned away from treatment here. Been there done that! I know for a fact you can get medical help if you need it here. The Poor can especially get it, I got it and I was not poor, just selfish with my money.

I might seem arrogant but you seem ignorant. To assume because I believe people should take personal responsibility that I do not care what happens to people. If all that can would make it their own personal responsibility to take care of their own house, then there would be more to help those that truly need help.

If I was you I would worry more about those that die in your own country because they have to wait to see specialist. Isn't there a law against a person getting their own insurance over there? The Government forces these people to sit and die not allowing them to care for themselves?

You know I entered this discussion because you said we turn pregnant women away from hospitals because they can not pay.

I did not come here to slam Canada's medical system. But you seem to high it to pretty high regards and now that you make me look into it. I know you are ignorant to what you are saying. Seems from some easy research you have some messed up problems.

People dying from heart attacks. Kids in pain waiting on knee surgery for yearsssss.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/20/health/main681801.shtml?cmp=EM8705

Old people that can not get hip replacements for months so they suffer in pain.

If you want to blow smoke up our butts telling us how good your system is and how we refuse pregnant women hospital deliveries because they can not pay.

I will be more than willing to post so many articles showing just how messed up your system is. How you let people die and suffer pain waiting for care that they already paid for through your high tax system.

How bad is it to have paid for medical for your kid but then make him wait 3 years to get his knee operated on??? How messed up is it to make a kid wear a knee brace in pain that needs surgery all along their family is paying almost 50% in taxes to get this non surgery.

Seems you system is more messed up than I thought it was. I would think you living there would know about this problem.

Maybe you should fix your own country instead of trying to get our elderly and children to suffer waiting like your do....I guess misery really does love company huh?

Surely you have learned by now, that there is no shortage of cut and paste articles floating around the Internet to help argue both sides of most any issue.

So do not be so Joyful in your limited Google expertise. If I wished to use up all of Ranchers.nets bandwidth I could cut and paste articles all day about the negative side of social medicine and articles about the failures of it in all countries that have it including yours.

I thought you would not reply hard for some people to admit when wrong.

Such as you saying our hospitals turn away women in labor because they can not pay. Or that your perfect system that "NOBODY in our country is EVER left in the dark for care"! would let a child wear a knee brace for 3 years that needs surgery. Or Cancer and Heart patients die waiting for treatment as hospitals cut funding and cut staff. Or that loose doctors to the U.S.

You are the one that put your system on a pedestal and degraded ours to a system that has pregnant women delivering babies on the sidewalk because they can not pay. When you are wrong you are wrong. But that is OK I will wait for you to admit it once you get them Valium!

Yep-- Mrs. Greg-- everyone down here goes up to Regina to get the lasar surgery done on their eyes--newer techniques not allowed in the US and about 1/4 the cost it is in Billings....Many times the cancer cures and pharmaceuticals that are being used in Canada are not allowed in the US- because not enough money has greased the palms of FDA officials and politicians to get FDA to approve them-- or a competing pharmaceutical company puts up big lobbying money to hold something new off the market while they still have a patent on THEIR money making drug  :(

Billing's charges 4 times more for techniques not allowed in the US :???:

OK-- same basic surgery to do the same thing-- but those that went to Regina said that the Canadian surgeons were allowed to use some different techniques that they felt gave more guarantee of success...Don't ask what-- cause I haven't done it, so don't know....

20 years ago when the old District Brand Inspector had his surgery- you had to go to Mexico- because none of it was approved for the US except on an experimental basis and the price then was unaffordable by the common person..
