I clicked onto one of the ads on this site that was about pressuring my Senator, Ben Nelson, into voting for Maobama's health care fiasco. I sent them an email saying that I, as a Nebraskan, expected Nelson to vote the way a Senator from a conservative state should vote, which is NO. Here is part of the response that I got from them;
"The benefit of a public option is that it will increase competition driving prices down for everyone. And since the top three health care companies in the U.S. made more than $156,000,000,000 (billion) last year alone, I don't think making it more affordable for people like you and me is a bad thing. Right now with no competition, these companies are able to charge whatever they want for medicines and products that directly impact our healthcare plans like Medicare and Medicaid. "
I did a quick check on Yahoo Finance and found that Aetna made 1.39B, Wellpoint 2.48, United Health Group 2.97. I questioned the person on where that 156B figure came from twice now. I have yet to receive a reply. It appears to me that the people who stump for Obama talk like Obama - the truth is not in them.
