How do you southerners handle the heat?
It was 90 degrees today by 11 AM- and I was ready to hole up in the air conditioning....Temp is 103 now- with 12% humidity- wind blowing 20 mph-- and a mouse fart would start a fire...
Red Flag fire warning out for the whole state- and thunderstorms predicted for the western part..

The weather boys are predicting storms here tommorow nite thru Fri-- hope they are moisture and not just dry lightning...At least they're supposed to cool things down again...

No kidding about the Southerners handling this heat. We've had days at +90's with yesterday being in 100's.YECK :!: :!: A normal person can't breath let alone work in this stuff.

The fact that we haven't had rain since June doesn't make this heat any sweeter..... :?

   WUSSIES!!!!!!

Only 12% percent water in the air.......try 80% for a true Southern adventure!!!

It's cooled off here a bit....was 97F Sat, about 3 PM....and 80F by 10AM today. Humidity was low at about 30%.

All the folks with me ( CA, IL, NY and 2 from WY) in WY last week....BEFORE the cold snap.... were falling out like flies in low 90 temps....me I just smiled and plodded on!!!!!

I love to breath water!!! Lack of humidity hurts me.

LOL We've had a bit of a break as well. With nice rain off and on since Saturday. Sun did pop out right before it went down this evenin. But As for A/C it aint even hardly on in weather like this.

How we stand it? LOL it's normal to us. And I agree with Kola....breathin without humidity sure dries your sinus' out. Uhgggg, that's the part I hate. Other than that.....heat don't bother me much.

It's that daggum cold Northern wind that I can't stand LOL

OT we are blaming our friend who just came up from Alabama for this heat
Had a thunder storm roll through today, but it mainly stayed to the west of us. Looked like it rained pretty heavy west of town.
We got just enough to rain us out of the barley.
This is getting to be one looonngg harvest.

Yep it all petered out before it got here too...Little wind- but no moisture...
We're done harvesting- wheat is in the bin :)

Sounds like only 1 or 2 more days of heat- then a cold front..Predicting 70's on Friday and low 80's on Sat....I might take advantage of that to go see if I can find a couple missing bulls...

I know what you mean.

I have to spend the first day when ' out West" dedicated to nose bleeds!!!! :( :( :(

I think one day I would like to try that "DRY" heat I hear so much about. I have lived all my life in the southeast. In the summer were cut offs with a louse fitting white T-shirt, white socks and Tennis shoes. And in July and August, unless I am in the hay field the hours between 11 AM and 5PM are spent under a fan in the AC. Work outside from day light to 11 then have dinner and a nice long nap followed by back to work at 5 until dark.

Look at it this way. Think of all that $$$$$$ people pay to use a sauna or ' sweat' out all those ' impurities' out of their bodies at salons, etc.

Man, we must be the ' purest' people alive cause we ' sweat' or ' glisten' ( for us women folk) from about late March till mid/late October!!!

And the humidity keeps wrinkles at bay by keeping mositure in your skin.

See....it's not all bad!!!!

33 frost free days since May 1, not all in a row. Our "frozen veggies" in the garden are doing well. When it gets to 85-90 F it is a hot day here. Funny what the human body adjusts itself to.

You all can keep that "wet" heat. That's worse than the dry heat we get like we had yesterday. It was like being in a blast furnace here. 38 C with a very strong south wind. Unless you had a job to do where there was air conditioning, the job didn't get done. The guys were going to work on the combine, but they gave that idea up pretty quick. They couldn't even stand to put their hands on the metal. We actually went and holed up in the bar for a few hours in the late afternoon, around 7 they went back to work on it some till dark.

93% humidity this morning at 5:00 A.M. with a temp of 75 degrees.

Nothing like walking outside and breaking in to a big instantaneous sweat.

Going to change the oil in our truck today. Hope I don't melt the roller wheels on the creeper.
Have to go out and start marking off tag numbers too.
Suppose to be cooler this week, so that's when I will start picking hay bales, no fun in 90+ in a truck with no air conditioning. :D

Y'all need to learn to park the combine in a dark spot "Under a shade tree" to work on it. Have you ever picked up a crome wrench that has been in the sun an hour or so. It will put blisters on your hand if it takes you long to look at it.
Poor old cows. I had a pond full yesterday afternoon. They were all crouded in a water hole trying to cool off. Most are due to calve in 30 to 45 days.

Wow...you calve at the hottest time of the year....why? Don't you have great troubles with heat scours and the like?

You guys must have better grass than we do up here. It's burnt to a crisp with no hope of getting any of Fay Rain at all.

Ughhh! Another hot day with a hot strong wind to go with it! Everywhere I looked today, crops that still had a hint of green in them on the weekend, have now turned a golden brown. Swathing canola is gonna be a bitch, I think most of it will have to be done at night. I told hubby today once he gets the canola all knocked down, I'll jump in the swather and do the wheat and barley while he and the best friend combine. I hope I can get the hang of it, it's a little different from cutting hay I've been told.

Hang in there OT the cool is coming. Got hit a couple of hours ago, strong winds out of the northwest. Temp has dropped quite a bit. Had a little bit of rain.
Suppose to rain tomorrow. They have kept uping the chance of rain. It went from 30% to 70% now.

kolanuraven our feed truck has a heater for winter, but no air conditioning.
Our air conditioning in that truck involves rolling down both windows and opening the side vent windows and driving fast.
