All the gals here are estrumated and dex'd at weening when we do herd health ,whether they stay here or are sold . It is just good business, that way I know and the buyer knows that they are open.

GV's are fertile little buggers and I do not want a heifer calving before her time. Not that they will most likely not be able to handle it, but rather that it puts a strain on the development of the heifer and also throw a wrench in our calving season. :wink:

Needle her, and if that doesn't work feed her hard for 90 days and eat her.
It takes a lot of extra management to get a fall pair through the winter as a saleable product, I know at my place she'd get knocked up again somehow.

0-3 months prostaglandin

3-6 months prostaglandin and dex

6-9 months dex ..

Just to refresh for those that do not use it that often.. BTW OLU will not make a difference , you might as well shoot it in the air.. :wink:
