Unless you are looking for a job modeling swimwear, throw the turkey out and eat the rest of that pecan pie you've had your eye on.

He had one pumpkin pie wednesday after he got home. Next morning he had a half of another for breakfast.. And then a third after dinner.... Man that kid can eat.....

Actually, I just want to know how he plans on shedding those pounds by Thursday. I could stand to lose 10 pounds or so myself. What's his secret?

Shelly, wrestling practise is a killer.... One thing is if you can't climb a rope to the ceiling of the gym you can't go home.. The boys have races to see who can climb up the fastest.. He skips lunch..... Has oatmeal for breakfast and then for supper a fruit smoothie and something like celery and peanut butter...
He has 7% body fat... And they run urine test to make sure they are hydrated..
fh, yes I am...... My height and weight I am obese.. :(

How bout turkey salad.......(green salad) with low fat dressing.....be bout the same as grilled chicken salad

also I read in two different articles that eating a tsp of honey before bed each night will help you loose weight. Somethin in the honey makes your metabolism burn calories while you sleep faster than usual.

You are right, you have to eat sometings so you can keep your metabolism going. I think he is on the right track with his eating. Tell him not to lose so much weight that all he thinks about is food and not his wrestling. Tell him to read Rulon Gardner's book, after all he is an alum of Neb

PT..
Carter thought that would be a good read..... He has read the book about the man who didn't have arms who wrestled and did very well... I can't think of the title right now......
Valentine has a great wrestleing tradition.... Coach Allison is a state champion and we are fortunate to have Jason Kelber a three time NCAA wrestling champ... This is the first year we will not have Tim Nieman who was a coach at NU...
Also the kids throw in some money, I think ten dollars apiece and some of the mothers bring a couple of cooler full of nutrious snacks... Bagels with creme cheese, fruit, whole grain muffins, honey, jelly and gram crackers, veggys and sandwiches.. This gives the boys a chance to get some energy after weigh in...
It's not so much sugar they have to watch it's fat.....

Nebraska is an awesome wrestling community. One thing I learned is to never take a Nebraska kid for granted. I think your son is on the right track with his nutrition.
The funny thing is there is almost like a family atmosphere when a school goes to a tournament, something other sport parents don't really understand. It is hard to believe the season is here already.

Yes you're right PT....I have had nothing but good things from Valentine. We are one big family, and we root for all the kids.... I don't know if #1 will wrestle varsity, I kinda hope he doesn't.. Anyway The JV go to there own wrestling meets as a team and wrestle.... And the varsity goes to others... #1 is certified at 130 so he can only wrestle 130 and up... He thought about certifying at 125, but was to hard to do.... Which I wasn't to excited about... Alot of wrestling is a mind thing... And you have to be totally committed.... I just hope he doesn't have to wrestle the girl from chadron again......... That stinks..........

I have seen girls wrestle and they are at a different maturity level than boys. So sometimes the girls will beat boys and it can ruin a boy and he may never wrestle again. It is hard for a boy to wrestle a girl as they are taught not to touch a girl in places, but in wrestling it happens. Kind of like wrestling with one arm behind your back. I would just like to see them seperated.
Good luck in wrestling..........both of you.

I had no idea that girls wrestled boys in sanctioned matches. What is the world coming to?

I too, think they should be separated.
Probably can thank the feminist movement for this.

I generally see about two girls a year. One coach wouldn't let a girl wrestle, she took it in stride but if she would have wanted to make a deal of it well.......who knows what would have happened. It might be cute when they are real little but once they start to mature.......just not a good thing.

I hate it....... I told #1 to not show her anything other than the lights.... He had to wrestle her three times last year and by the 2nd and 3rd time she wanted no part of him....
