Kind of fits what my old football/wrestling coach used to always say: "Wrestling is the sport you do on a mat- rasslin is what you do in the back seat with your girl friend"... I guess times are changing

There is a general rule in sports in that if a school doesn't offer a female equivilant to the sport than the girl can play with the boys. If a school says no well, the family can fight that decision and will probably win. Might have somethign to do with title IX but I can't remember, it was explained to me once but I didn't really care one way or the other. We had a couple of girls on our soccer team the last year I played before switiching to cross country and than torquing my knee so bad that I had to do PT for 4 months.. Didn't bother me and they were two of the toughest gals you could imagine on the field and two of the prettiest when they dressed up for school dances...

The thing is that supposedly it works both ways, if the school doesn't have a male version of a sport than the guy can play with the girls... I think I remember seeing one male field hockey player around Chicago (Guys play other places, back east maybe?) but I could never imagine doing it.. Don't remember wrestlers but that is one of the more common ones, along with female place kickers in football and also hockey for the few schools where I grew up that had teams...When I say few, I mean few.
