Okay, I've been doing my stretches before and after I throw my shotput and javelin and my hips and knees are stiff. At the beginning, I was throwing the shot 8.3 and now I am stiff and can only do 7.8. What do I do? Tryouts are in a week and if I can get a little loosened up, I'll make it for sure... I am still .2 ahead of everyone else in shot, and i dont know about javelin. HELP!!!!!!!!

Acs, for what its worth, everyone thinks that throwing is the arms, it is more legs and technique, hence, your sore knees and hips. Warm up by warming up the legs, jogging, jumping jacks, deep knee bends, squats then warm up the arms, shoulders, abs. Use air, learn how to inhale and exhale at the right time to get the UUUMPHHHH. Power is using the whole body, work on your leg strength and make sure you are warmed up. The arms are just the extension of the body that controls the projectile, use it all. BTW, MCG got 2nd today, her best is 73', this big girl send the discus 92', she had the power!

All I got the discus to do was 20.3 meteres. lol. I do try to exhale, but in my throw, I am in my own world focusing on where to pu tthe shot or javelin.I warm up from head to toe, a habit from hockey. lol.

Thanks again sw!
