Given the success that some companies are claiming with their live animal BSE tests, and the success that some countries have had using those tests in trials, would you be willing to test your own herd?

Of course this is a what-if poll, since those tests aren't licensed for use in Canada or the US, but I am curious.

No point in testing your herd if they are not to be sold to a customer that is asking for it. Testing is only and has always only been a marketing tool. No other purpose.

Its a good point Randy, especially since animal to animal transmission is unlikely given that little evidence supports it, but wouldn't you want some peace of mind, just in case the scientists are missing something?

I find it incredible that the USDA and the CFIA refuse to acknowledge that the UK (no matter the numbers) and other countries (Japs, etc.) used testing to add another layer of safety to the food chain and to help quieten the bad press given to beef by the BSE epidemic in those respective countries.

The USDA is feeding the frenzy of the press by denying independent tests. In any PR war, the less you give your opponents to talk about, the better off you are.

I want my $350+ back!
