Here's a thread where you can compare ag producers getting a little of their own money back with freeloading bums that never do anything but take from the government. :???:

The paper has been full of announcements and proclamations about financial help for agriculture. Well we got a cheque this week. I ran intomy neighbor and I bet him my cheque was smaller-he farms 2,000 or so acres and we have 200 and some cows. well his was a grand total of $214 and mine rolled in at a cool $133. They might of just sent us both a lump of coal lol.

Don't doubt it a bit.

I got $4 per head for disaster aid (drought) last year.

Found out later that it took more money in admininstrative costs to distribute the checks than we actually got.

If we ran our businesses like governments are run, we'd all be starving.

Mike I am surprised by the way you talk on here that you would even accept a goverment hand out....But then to also complain about how little it was, shocked me even more.....Funny how somethings work around here...

NN,the point of this thread was our Government announing to the public the huge amount of money being givin to the cattleman, then they recieve a pitance IF they recieve anything. Next uninformed non-cattlemen complain about ALL the money the cattleman recieved

And its taxable, then after you get the money, the government taxed you on it,then they ASK you for it back because they OVERPAID you

So next time you and your friends are sitting around having a brew and talking about the Billions-Millions that the cattleman recieved SHARE this piece of info

Every time a government subsidy for drought or other conditons comes out my Dad comments he's going to town to get his welfare check. I think if we'd all be honest it is a lot like some instances of welfare where hard times are brought on by elements out of our control and the government gives money.

I have no idea how much cattlemen make a year,I have yet to have that disscussion while entertaing a cold beverage with any of my friends....I think those that run a upstanding and honest outfit would probably fair decently .......I will not say it is an easy way to become wealthy nor would i expect a rancher to be dirt poor....and just so you know ...others in canada not just ranchers have to pay back after being over paid on taxes....Many writeoffs come back to haunt people....

You see you misunderstand...its not the taxes I was talking about its the subsidy, they give you then say they overpaid you and want that back.We pay INTO a program called C.A.I.S,nice little letter from them Xmas Eve day saying they over paid us and want the money back...its our money we paid into like an insurance company thing.

You don't know too much about the ranching industry at the moment do you nn,cause if you did you'd know its doesn't matter how good and well managed a ranch is...the industry is hurting in Canada. What you pay over the counter for meat is NOWHERE what the cattleman is paid...I truly mean NOWHERE

Go into Bull, check out the thread "Hay.. OT got my cheque in the mail"....posted by Randy Kaiser...you'll see what kind of cheques the cattlemen are getting.

nn...when you attack a fellow cattleman about subsidies on here, you'll hear about it....its fair game.Mikes a big boy he doesn't need Texan or I sticking up for him,its more our industry we're sticking up for :!:
