Built like a missle! I like his topline and length. He has a good rear quarter as well. Looks like a beautiful bull to me!! :D

pretty nice, I would like to see him a bit deeper in the flank. But you put him on deep sided cows and should be fine.

The JH tells me it is a Holden bull. The 405 number tells me he was born in a 4 year. After a little research I found the HH Advance 405 bull was born in 1964 and the current owners are listed as KD Owen and Wayne Haygood. Put your 1964 glasses on and look at that bull. Must have been a whale of a calf crop because I didn't find him in any Holden pedigree that I have so he must have not kept him to use for himelf.

Did I get 50% right?

Not bad. I believe the brand on Holdens is actually a LH for Les Holden.

The bull is HH Advance C405. Born in 1964.

Here's what Lee Haygood said about him:

>>This 2350 pound bull is one of 5 Super ROM sires. Sons have topped Cooper-Holden sales on two occasions and 24 bulls out of C405 daughters or by a son averaged $8,618 in their 1974 sale. The top selling yearling bull at $35,000 was out of a C405 daughter, the second top at $23,500 was out of a son (CH Domino 053) and the top selling heifer at $5,700 was out of a daughter.

C405 is the thickest and heaviest quartered Line 1 bull we have seen plus being short marked and having considerable red pigmentation.<<

Pretty good sale averages for 1974. Would make good averages today!

They had semen for sale in 1976, wonder if there is still any around. I think he is a whale of a bull.

Also he was not a "pure as the driven snow" line one if you look at his pedigree.

I found a picture of HH Advance C405 in the July 1970 Hereford Journal and ruled him out because his markings looked totally different. I guess one of the photos must have been flipped.

I bet he was a whale of a bull in his day.

Holden's have their cow sale catalog online now if any one's interested. Hope I can hurry and win the lotto. It looks to me like they have an outstanding group of cows they are selling.

Here's the link.
