Here's a new pic of Tillerie

Miss Tillie is going to be spending some time everyday, tied up. Over at the Fair, she's going to spend 3 days being tied up, except when Al's getting her ready to show, showing her, or feeding & watering her. So, she's going to have to get used to it sooner or later, and MeanMom put her foot down this mornin, and told Al how it's gotta be. He messed with her, leading her around, getting her used to the "show stick" and everything.......then tied her up. She wasn't overly thrilled at first, but when she found out she couldn't get loose, she just stood quietly and nicely. Still like that, when I checked her a little while ago. It's still pretty muddy in the corral, it was starting to dry out some, then we got another half inch yesterday... This is the driest spot in her corral........

She is looking good. Al has made good progress feeding her extra.

I'll be anxious to hear how he does. Nothing even remotely 'potty' about her now. She does look good.

If you are keeping her tied, I hope you did something to help her with
the flies. That could be miserable if she can't get away from them.

We mixed up some CoRal and sprayed her, she still has a few, but not nearly as many as before.....it doesn't seem to last very long, unfortunately.

I think she's lookin pretty darn good, myself.......I don't think Blondie's calf this year is going to be nearly as good as Tillie. Oh, well, Al's got the little dogie to use, if we're still here and he wants to show him next year. He stands really pretty, with his head up, and everything. And is already used to being tied up for a little while at a time......

ACS, I asked Al about sending her up, and he gave me one of those "are you nuts" looks.............. Guess that means no? :?

I'm getting really anxious for the fair, now, too........I can hardly wait to see how she does. With the extra feed, though, she's gettin pretty pushy........Al really had to clamp down on her this morning, or she mighta run away with him...... A few days of being tied up should help that, though. He hadn't messed with her much since it got so muddy in the corral, just feed her and turn her out. She kinda developed a little bit of an "attitude"............

Even though she's white, wanna ship her north a ways.... I ned a new show heifer. lol.

If you want a good one, give me a call. However, you're going to have to cross over to the light - the glorious light of thickness, style and frame that is Maine.

Nope, sorry. Blondie, Tillie's mama, is the only yeller cow on the whole place, and her this year's calf isn't nearly as good as Tillerie.......and a bull to boot, plus half Hereford. He's just not as good a calf as Tillie was at the same age.

There are a couple of perdy good lookin heifers down at the in-law's, though.......I could inquire about them for ya, if ya want........and maybe even get some pics of them and sendja. I believe they would be half sisters to ^ Wild Child........

Haha we have a first calver that when she was a calf I tagged her with the name of "Wild Child" because of her coloring. She's one I shoulda took a picture of and entered in the Colored cattle photo contest, but didnt think about it.

LOL!!!!!! That's funny, Lilly!

I call this one Wild Child, mostly because he's wild as a March hare.....about the only way I could get a pic of him, was from inside the pickup.......cause FIL feeds them in the pickup, so he wouldn't turn tail and run from it........here's one of him and Blondie when I did get out........

These have been cropped, they were actually about 30 yards away from me, and leaving at a rapid rate. Blondie has always been on the unsociable side, and I think Wild Child takes after her more that way, than Tillie ever did. Tillie was pretty gentle tempered from the start. I think that's one of the things that makes her special to us.......

She is nice looking ...In regards to fly spray use a water based protect on show animals it doesnt seem to be so harsh on there hair ...and when you have her tied up like that you should have the front built up with dirt or straw it helps build there back end up...Good Luck at the Fair... :D

The CoRal is a concentrate, you mix with water......it seems to work well, until it rains, and then you have to reapply.......but we have a half gallon of the concentrate, so it's no big deal.......just messy to go slopping through the mud to get to the hydrant.....

I just went up and sprayed her again, she's getting to where she likes it even....... I was spraying through the fence, from the upper corral that the babies are in, and she'd turn this way, and that way, so I could get her sprayed all over. Just had trouble gettin under her belly......too many fence rails in the way.......

Where she's tied is kinda on a slope, which is why it's the driest place in her corral...hope that's enough to do the trick? Guess I could make Al haul a few loads of mud over there and dump...but that's all we have around here at the moment. Everything is so wet.........which beats so dry all to pieces! Unless you're trying to get a light colored bovine ready for the fair......
