I pray this is not going to spread across this country.....How could anyone not atleast call 911? The bigger question is how could the woman not call or come back and see if her hero was ok?

Multiple Pedestrians Ignore Dying New York HeroUpdated: 16 hours 11 minutes ago
.Print Text Size E-mail MoreAOL News (April 24) -- A homeless man who was stabbed while saving a woman from a knife-wielding attacker lay dying in a pool of his own blood for more than an hour while several New Yorkers walked past without calling for help.

Surveillance video obtained by the New York Post shows that some passers-by paused to gawk at Hugo Alfredo Tale-Yax early Sunday morning and yet kept on walking.

One man came out of a nearby building and took a cellphone photo of the victim before leaving. Another leaned over and vigorously shook the dead man before walking away. But most people never stopped.

Firefighters arrived more than an hour and 20 minutes after Tale-Yax collapsed. By that time, the 31-year-old was dead.

"They needed to help and call the police. I don't get it," resident Ramon Bellasco, 46, told the Post.

The incident happened at 7:21 a.m. almost a week ago at 88 Road and 144th Street in the borough of Queens, but police didn't have a clear idea of what happened until recently.

Tale-Yax is seen on the grainy video approaching a man who was threatening a woman with a knife. The man turned and stabbed Tale-Yax but most of the action is out of the security camera's field of vision. Both the stabber and the woman then fled in different directions and Tale-Yax stumbled a few paces before collapsing face-down on the sidewalk.

Within a minute or so, the first of a long series of people begins walking by Tale-Yax without going to his aid.

Police told the Post they received four 911 calls at around the time of the attack reporting a woman screaming, but found nothing. They said they received no other 911 calls.

The incident is reminiscent of the rape and murder of Kitty Genovese, also in Queens, in 1964. In that case, dozens of people witnessed some or all of the attack and yet no one did anything to stop it.

No arrests have been made in the latest slaying, and police have been unable to identify the woman Tale-Yax was trying to help.

That is pretty sad. America people just don't have a care for no one but them else. I guess they are following what the president is doing to the older Americans. :(

They only see a person from the outside what they wear, where they live, ever person who has ever lived on the street has a family a background they came from somewhere, some came from foreclosures, had once good jobs, no where else to turn, some are mentally ill, and some are just bad people, this guy saved this womans life, and got killed for it-worse left to die as people walked by assuming he was a drunk, passed out on the street-so glad I don't live in that city, those people who turned the other cheek, and kept on trucking, well they will have to live with it-but oh yeah they are uncaring sob's so it probably won't bother them in the least.

For that man, for the people who didn't stop and for
what has happened to us as a society.

Unfortunately there are too many that need genuine help and there are those that take advantage, it comes down to the number of votes you can buy with taxpayer money.

having been on this site for 5 years I can say with all assurance that I can only think of maybe one or two who would not render aid or atleast call 911.
I can say with knowing in my heart even at the worst of times between ot and I I KNOW he would atleast call for help and prob would give aid himself. Even if it was ME laying on the ground.

I have been trying to figure out why someone who hates the very people of this board, all of them, why come here to spread hate and discontent?
Are you that shallow and need something in your life to make you feel worth a damn? get a dog from the pound it will warm the cockles of your heart and maybe show you what really matters in life.......
Yes we do grip and call each other out BUT I would say 99% of us do care for the others on this site and do call each other friend.

doubtful...

knowing how people in the city walk by and ignore their surroundings.. I can see it happening..

rural living does not allow you to ignore those around you..

and I like calling the police on our local drunk passed out tourists.. no sense them getting any rest on the nice cool sidewalk..

I learned the quickest result is to say the person is unresponsive..
as that gets more lights, then passed out...

In all likelyhood if it was a democrat It was a democrat that could not come to grips with the CHANGE THEY WERE RECEIVING. :???:

One has to look no further than ranchers to see the democraps scattered quicker than flies land on a fresh cow pile. Speaking of that that kind of resembles what was happening when the potus was campaigning. Many democraps were fainting and saw obama as decending from the clouds. They are still waithing for him to part the waters.

Seems if he was what you folks thought you were voting for he would clean up the oil spill in the gulf with the swipe of his hand.
