Hey, we just bought 2 loads out of Wyoming coming end of Sept. on the video today. We need more cattle but we really would like to buy 8 weight feeders coming end of Oct or so also. We will need to find a place to background the calves for 2 months. Hubby promised he wasn't going to fill yards till after harvest so I do hope we can background the calves. He has a way of not always doing what he says!!!! So I guess we are still looking for calves and feeders and I'm holding my breath we can get them home after harvest. How is everything your way? We are wet here and just waiting to chop silage.

Them 8 and 9 weights are the thing to buy.... Pretty steep price here thou.
It's wet.... we are not going to buy calves this year as hubby will be trucking wheat this year... He has already started that... Need to vaccinate calves and will cut some silage for the cows..... Hubby says they are hauling corn north into Alpina from Fremont... 90 cents a bushel to haul.....
Just thinking about ya...........

Yep- From what I watched on Superior today-- those 8 weights are worth well over $900-- but I saw 400 lbers that were selling for close to $650...All the local calves from up here sell tomorrow.....
I'll have to try and watch and see what Brent (Big Dry Angus) gets for his "reject" bulls and heifers tomorrow....

Katrina, are you from the Freemont area? I think you said before but my memory is the pits! OT, we almost were in your area a couple weeks ago. We spent a wonderful night out with lazy ace and TTB at the Isabel rodeo. Our plans were to take hwy 2 to Glacier. Instead we spent time in western ND and needed to return home sooner than we planned. So, probably next year I'll get to Glacier.

I took a few culls to yard on Tuesday.

The smaller calves (300-400) were bringing about $1.10.

The larger calves (600-800) were bringing about $1.10.

Go figure.

I just watched bits and pieces- but saw some exactly 400 lbers that brought over $1.50 (must have been around $1.56- cause I remember when I put the calculator to it they were $625)....Some of the 6 weights were in the $1.20-1.30 range...Don't know when the delivery was tho on any of them.....
I'll get a better idea tommorrow when the locals sell-- as I haven't really heard of anyone buying anything up around hear yet...Usually August is the month that the buyers start beating the bushes around here--for end of October thru Mid November delivery...

Feeder if you're ever coming this way let me know-- buy you lunch, dinner or some toddies- whatever....

We got 3 more loads bought today of heavier calves coming end of Sept. They will go to a lot close to lazy ace and TTB. I just hope TTB doesn't post any update photos of the calves like she did last year!! LOL
