Hey gals--

Have you ever ordered from Alison's Pantry?
I just saw a catalog and it looks like they have some things
that I can't get at the grocery store. Just wondered what the
quality is. You order by July 9 and don't get it til Aug. 18...
but I can live with that.

What are you looking for? There are some other places that have a better price and or delvery time frame. Some have a better selection.

Hey FH, that isn't one of those places that sell all of the naughty stuff and the edible drawers, is it? I would hate to think you were THOSE PEOPLE

PANTRY ! I see now that I misread that. I could have swore that you were referring to the unmentionables of some gal named Allison. My mistake. I will set over here and mind my own beeswax.

That's a good question FH. Right now my mind is on some major drugs. I haven't done anything since my back surgery except lay around and do drugs. Half the time I don't know if I'm afoot or horseback. So therefore, if my mind wanders, I'm blaming the drugs. But you are the one who asked about Allisons Panties. LoL

The response would have been better bar bar if you had used the pm method!

the squeaky clean image upfront must be maintained at all costs.

They seem to have a lot of things that aren't available around here.
Frozen sour cherries, for one thing. I love to bake with them and they
are almost impossible to find. They have lots of frozen stuff; pineapple,
strawberries, blackberries, etc. They have some meat products.
One thing that made me chuckle was their Rib Eye steaks. It says
"Rib Eye Steaks. Tenderized*. Cut from Top Sirloin beef
seasoned for your summertime grilling. :???: I think they are
mixed up and this is sirlon steak... And it must be packed in something
to tenderize and season it. The * is qualified at the bottom of the page. It reads
"Holten steaks come cryo-vac'd and indicidually packaged for ease of use and longer frozen life."
I'm not buying them, but I'd bet there
is some kind of marinate in that cryovac to 'tenderize and season'...doesn't mean it would be bad, but they
are advertised at
$3.10 each and each steak weighs 8 oz. That's $6.20/lb for
supposedly RIB EYE. Oh well.

They have lots of spices and frozen vegetables; frozen fish; appetizers;
frozen cookie dough, nuts; cheese; etc. It's a 40 page catalog.

Do you have a Schwann's man that delivers in a truck to your house?
This is like that, only you have to wait a month to get your order, so
it's less expensive. I am going to try some things and see what I think.
I just wondered if anyone had any experience with this company.
Mrs. H sent me an email and she says the stuff is really good.

Here, you can take a look: www.alisonspantry.com

Funny you should mention the Schwann's man......I'd never ever seen him around here until last week one day...I was out in the garden, and he pulled in and crossed the cattle guard. Guess my MIL is order/buyin stuff from Schwann's now.

My first thought was...."Here I am pickin peas....and she's prolly buyin frozen peas from the Schwann's man"

Have used Allison's Pantry, and I wish we had it on this side of the river! The spices, frozen fruit, and jello were all excellent--jello and spices were in bulk bags. They also had a cooking spray that was great--didn't leave the plasticky residue on pans. Enjoy!
