Clinton explains assassination reference

From Peter Hamby
CNN Political Producer

BRANDON, South Dakota (CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton said Friday that she regretted comments that evoked the June 1968 assassination of Robert Kennedy as part of her explanation for why she was staying in the presidential race late into the primary season.

Sen. Hillary Clinton apologized for comments made to a newspaper on Friday.

Earlier Friday afternoon, she told the editorial board of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader that "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said.

Clinton complained that "people have been trying to push me out of this ever since Iowa" and said that position "historically ... makes no sense."

Later at an event in Brandon, South Dakota, she said, "earlier today, I was discussing the Democratic primary history and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns that both my husband and Sen. Kennedy waged in California in June in 1992 and 1968, and I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nominating primary contests that go into June. That's an historic fact.

She made a perfectly valid comment, showing how elections aren't over until someone wins or concedes. All kinds of things, including a death, can change the outcome up until that point. I was glad to see her not back off the comment. The press jumps on her every word and gives McSame a by over and over on his foolish statements. If she wasn't tough as nails, she'd have dropped out weeks ago. Go, Hillary!

I agree with you, ff. Not necessarily about McCain getting a pass because it seems to me that Obama is getting more of a pass. But Hillary is sure taking her licks from the media. I didn't see anything wrong with what she said, either. And I can't imagine anybody questioning how tough she is.

It seems that all candidates these days just look for something that an opponent says so they can exploit it. The most irrelevant misstatement is used against them. There's no room for any mistake or slip of the tongue.

The Obama people are offended by anything to do with race. The Clinton people are offended by anything to do with gender. The McCain people are offended by anything to do with age. Sometimes it seems that all of these candidates are almost too sensitive to be President.

I agree go Hillary! Keep fighting the fight. It is kind of amusing watching the Dem's the party of tolerance and unity show their Racist and Chauvinist true sides.

And the only reason McCain is not getting pounded in the media is because the Republicans do not have a race going on at the moment. As soon as the Democrats get done beating up on each other, the Media will turn too McCain like a pack of wolves, that is the one thing you can count on in this election.

I think this is why Bill is pushing for Hillary to be VP, he realizes the only chance she will ever have to be President is to scoot in with someone else like Obama and then Pray (or plan  ) for an assassination.

Bill's letter to John

For those of you who may not be completely aware of John Hinckley, who he is, what he did, and why, here's a little history.

John Hinckley was a seriously deranged young man who shot President Reagan many years back. John was absolutely obsessed with movie star Jodie Foster, and extremely jealous as well, and in his twisted mind, loved Jodie Foster to the point that to make himself known to her, attempted to assassinate President Reagan.

With that in mind...the staff at the mental facility treating John Hinckley reports intercepting the following letter from Bill Clinton:

To: John Hinckley
From: Bill Clinton

Dear John,

Hillary and I wanted to drop you a short note to tell you how pleased we are with the great strides you are making in your recovery. In our country's new spirit of understanding and forgiveness, we want you to know there is a bilateral consensus of compassion and forgiveness abroad throughout the land.

Hillary and I want you to know that no grudge is borne against you for shooting President Reagan. We, above all, are aware of how the mental stress and pain could have driven you to such an act of desperation. Hillary and I are confident that you will soon make a complete recovery and return to your family to join the world again as a healthy and productive young man.

Best wishes,
Bill & Hillary Clinton

PS: Barack Obama is screwing Jodie Foster.

I agree the pic of Obama in the cross hairsd is wrong......unless of course there is a second shooter with Hillary in his sights...then all I want to hear is that loud bang and the sweet smell of gun powder on the morning dew.....

neither of these Dems are worthy to lead this nation!
imagine what our founding fathers would think. a colored man and a woman running for President.

this country is headed straight to hell.
