It sounds like if the judges vote you -you don't need to be voted on.You should go watch it BMR it's pretty cool all the little towns-making their videos some are very good.Maple Creeks was great I thought. Ours had the bronc rider bronze on main street wearing a hockey sweater-a bunch of dr's wearing hockey sweaters delivering a little hockey player-a 92 year old Granny playing road hockey etc etc. Then one of the teachers wrote a song and our local gospel group was singing it during the video. Two girls from highschool are doing all the video work and are doing a great job. The video version on the net even has yours truly on it-were the only team I've seen where both coaches wear silver belly Stetsons-Ty is on the net video too-#15. The next round should be Awesome-we've got a great community up here-I can't wait to see what they come up with video wise. The theater was packed at high school last night with everybody seeing if we made it. Win or lose it's a great deal for the towns that got involved.

I'll have to wait until I get to the library in town if I want to see it because our dial-up service makes downloading videos pretty well impossible.

How can you not get CBC BMR lol.

Too close to the border. It's called almost freedom of speech.

When we had a tower up we could barely get it. More snow then South Dakota in the spring. We then got a dish that didn't carry CBC and the tower blew down. Never bothered puting it back up.
I was seeing if I could vote for you and my mom wanted me to vote for wingham cause she is from that area. I tried.

BMr - How long ago did your mom move out west?

I don't know of a Ralph Wyndham, but I do know Durnins and Altons. I used to cut logs for about ten years and worked up in the Dungannon/Lucknow area for a good part of those years. Some of the best hard maple in the world grew on those rolling, gravelly hills.

I can't remember which Durnin farms I cut on, but we always looked forward to working in their timber.

Another interesting thing is the price of hard Maple. When I was logging in the late 70's - mid 80's, it was about $ 300/ thousand board feet with veneer bringing $350.

Recently I sold some for $1200/thousand. There were only 3 veneer logs in the pile, but they are worth from $5000 -$7000/thousand board feet.

It seems that timber values are the only thing that has kept up in value relative to inflation on the farm. I am glad for our 25 acres of hardwood timber. It's what has keep us going for the past few years. And it keeps our house warm all winter, too.

Oh, ask your mom if Stainton Hardware was in business in Wingham when she lived back here. It still is today. Probably a lot of changes since then. Like the most obvious one is the Tim Horton's on the corner of Highways 4 and 86 where there used to be a low swamp that flooded every spring!

Now you've gotten my curiosity up. I'm a poor one for remembering names, but I'm going to take a drive up there someday soon and see if that store is still running. I used to stop by there for my Pepsi and icecream when I was working in those parts. That was in the early 80's. I always liked those little stores because that's what my folks ran when I was a little kid.

Oh, the memories!

May 7, Meadow Lake is the place to be-were going to make a bowl of Mac and Cheese for the Guiness Record Book-there's going to be lots of other stuff going on for the next stage. CBC will be there filming also-can't wait.

Hockeyville is taking a distant back seat to Cpl. Dinning's funeral tomorrow. Wingham is going to be a very busy spot with the 2-3000 expected visitors doubling the town's population for the day.

There were military folks there today getting the arena set up for the funeral. The parents must be going through the most harrowing experience of their lives.

I cannot imagine. Their son was the same age as our oldest at 22-23 years of age.

Our rodeo parade them this year is Hockeyville so our 4H club is playing shinny in front of the float-here's my helmet-lot easier to split the 'D' when you can run a horn into them-my wife has been busy all day shellacing our special cow pie pucks. Were going to glitterpaint 'Hockeyville' across our bucking bulls butts for the rodeo and they all get 'Enforcer' names for the rodeo. Domi is little and hooky and Laraque is big, black and droppy. Be sure to vote Meadow Lake on June 6, 8'00 P'M on CBC.

we have our rednecks, and that pic sure holds up the steriotypical drunken Canadian hockey fan.......

I think your going to be in tough against Pilot Mound, NR. There story behind building their areana is pretty darn special. But then again once they see you in those horns Meadow Lake will win!!
