anyone else watching this sale?? several of them have a lot of white flashes in the rib area and wow are the yearling bulls FAT !!! would like to know how they are fed...if they get that big on grass and hay they ought to finish out in about 2 weeks on grain!

saw one go for $40,000....give my left nut to sell a bul for that!

i watched about the first 10 or so bulls sell. out of those bulls the top was $37,500 and the "cheap" one would cost ya about $10,000. pretty fair average so far.

this is just a guess, but they must have averaged about $5500-$6000. thats a pretty good day, i'd say.

probably right on justin - just got home from that deal.

Well?

this will be a pretty lame report but i watched the first 15 or 20 sell. harrel bought a high priced one, vannewkirk bought three while i was there, thorstenson @ SD bought a nice one(good eye by the way), commercial man ginther bought a 9000 dollar bull (wouldn't it be fun to have commercial customers like that- jack stopped the sale with this bull and said the bull would be the kind to take any program forward), spencer bought one (didn't really care for the bull), stardance out of TX bought... lots of purebred breeders bought while i was there. oh year - wichman herefords at moore mt bought the red faced bull, the russians bought two or three bulls for stud (stevenson was buying those bulls- all five thousand dollar bulls).

i didn't have the catalog while i was watching - my hat goes off to those guys, pretty neat deal to generate that kind of money off a ranch that size.

I snuck in late and ducked out early - didn't want to be accused of rubbing elbows with the big shots and its not really my kind of crowd. our AHA rep gave me the cold sholder - can't get those guys attention unless you are padding their wallet. couple of my customers bought later on i guess.

they had a bull with an adj imf score of 6.0 and a couple 16 sq in adj rib eyes - goggins calls them type cowboy bulls.... (what would you call those kind?)

several times goggins had the S O L but not quite the D and got a couple more thousand out of them - he says, I was just going to say sold them higher is all not SOLD... got the crowd laughing

i looked the bulls over before hand and thought it was one of the nicer sets i've seen there - and they weren't nearly as fat as they have been the last 5 years or so.

jack said it was his 22 year involved in the deal over the last 44 so hes got half of them under his belt and going strong. he also said his wife deserved a medal for sticking with him for this long and it got a chuckle out of me. it think it is a damn neat deal.... here this ranch sitting at valier montana draws the attention of cattlemen all over the world - awesome!

i can't remember the number of the bull i picked - definite standout as far as top and muscle.... can't remember who bought him either

someone will have to give a report on coopers sale

was the quality good watching it on TV or the computer? watched the calgary sale on the computer and it was a joke for quality

i love to listen to Goggins. i have only seen him in person once, but have listened to him hundreds of times. he'll call anything with a set of nuts a "cowboy bull".

i watched the sale on RFD, and it was almost as good as being there....almost  :D

to me it looked like a few times someone was standing right in front of the camera during the sale

what was shown on TV, was a pre-recorded video of each bull. didn't show them in the ring. the camera you are talking about may have been for the internet. i'm not a fan of watching on the computer. quality doesn't ever seem to be very good.

Impressive set of herdfords bulls. Holden could show a bunch of angus breeders how to use a knife to improve quality of sale animals.

I watched the sale and was really impressed. Being an Angus breeder, raised by a Hereford father, I have to say that I really appreciate a good bull no matter the color or the "hype" of the ranch name. Holdens and Coopers have done a great job of producing Herefords that nobody can call junk.

Not to steal Holden's thunder, but I was also impressed with the New Vankirk bulls that sold a few weeks ago. I think their purchase today was a good one. Also the bull the that Thorenston(sorry if I butchered the name) were really good bulls. And the bull that Harrel's bought looked good.

No matter the color, I thought they were an outstanding set of bulls.
