Seems like Aussie/Border Collie X is quite popular. As for me, I wondered how you could get what you want crossing a head dog with a heeler.
Our Vet in W. Montana had an Austrailian Shepherd he called "Pattie."
She was totally worthless. Worse than that even, no dog would have been better than her. But an old cowboy named Bob had a terrific Border Collie (the best one I have ever seen) that he called "Scottie." These two guys were neighbors and the vet wanted Pattie bred to Scottie. So they mated them several times and the pups weren't very good. The last time the vet called to say Pattie was in heat, Bob wasn't interested. He told the vet,
"Not interested in breeding Scottie with Pattie any more. You can't breed a monkey to a football and get a football player."
