Hot and DRY

Seems like it went from green to brown and crunchy in about 4 days. Sound like some of the folk in East Texas and Okieland would be willing to give up a little moisture if they could.
SOOO, Why don't we just have congress put up a bill saying that all moisture has to be distrubitued equally. I know sounds silly, but not much worse that some of the Ideas that come out of that swamp.
OH-OH I hear my soapbox starting to crack so got to go.

Hey, JB, how is it in your area for moisture?
Going over by Rapid City, it is looking pretty darn dry there.

I was just thinking about you and how you were faring
moisture-wise.

Watched the SD High School Rodeo finals on tv today and
there were some good hands from Red Owl. I imagine you know
who I am speaking about...

Yup, some of these young hands around here are good ones. Got quite a few headed for Springfield. The young man who won the All Around is just a real good kid. He's going to college on a Scholorship this fall to be a teacher. He really likes kids.

We are turning brown but our grass is pretty tall, until you go south of me towards the Hills. Sounds like there were quite a few fires around on Saturday night. We don't need that. Tho' we did get the ground wet and a few small puddles with the rain that came with the lightning.

We've been reading about the bad wild fires and the latest canyon fire in the Black Hills that burned homes. Mr nr and I were wondering over lunch whether many homes in areas that frequently burn have steel or clay tile rooves intead of shingles.

So many of these people who live in the Hills don't worry about little things like fire.

They forget, that if yoiu don't cut back the fule for fire you are going to have bigger and hotter fires. Maybe in time some of these tree huggers will see the need to thin some of these overgrown foests that can go up in flames.

As usual, those of the rest of us have to pay for their attitudes.

And back to your question, I see more are gong to tin roofs, and we see a few tiles. I'll bet most of the new ones are.

I hear they are talking about making an area where you have to do certain things to live there. Like cutting back the forest so far and having tin roofs or tile roofs and many other things that would help.

This reminds me of those people who choose to build homes in a flood zone and then want the rest of us to pay to fix their homes after they get flooded!

We need rain here to. The corn is curling on light ground. I wish you guys in Texas and Oklahoma would send some of the rain north. :? We would like a bit of it. While I am making my wish list you guys can send it now and little bits all through August for the beans around here. There, my wish list is complete.

Last Thursday evening I got to smell rain and see it in the distance but not a drop here. Still waiting and watching the skies.

Arizona always looks for the "monsoons" to start around the 4th of July. Some have gotten some moisture, I haven't. I'm desperate enough to go up to the the Rez and hire some Hopi Raindancers!!! LOL

Well we finally got 4/10ths here yesterday. 2 miles north they got an innch and 2 miles south they got nothing! The next week is looking like we might get more.

Hopefully, the grass will start up again with what we got. Pasture is pretty skimpy.

Moved the cows off one of the swamp pastures toda.. Still a lot of water out there and the swamp grass was still adequate but the dry ground grasses had been hit pretty good.. Hoping for a good rain soon as they will head back to that pasture in 5 weeks probably.. We are about to hit our traditional dry period here of July 15th to August 15th... Generally really dry with the exception of one good event and than usually not another drop.. Strange how it works..
