HOTTER THAN ----

Hotter than ---- Death Valley is what they were saying on the radio for yesterday...Officially Glendive Mt. was 111...I saw some unofficial or remote sights that were higher...The radio said Death Valley was below 100....

Today it is 109 here-- town says 107--but the weather boys weather site in the Missouri Breaks says 113 .....Whole eastern Montana again well in the 100's....

Cool front moving out of Alberta- meeting with monsoonal air coming out of Idaho is setting off thunderstorms everywhere west of me...Supposed to move our way and hopefully it will bring us a little much needed moisture-- and a couple of cooler days only in the 80's or 90's :D - until the temp climbs up again this weekend :(

Might have to head north tomorrow-- RockGlen Sk (70 miles north) is only predicting a high of 77.....

A friend that lives in Aubrey, Texas called today, said it hasn't been 100 degrees there yet. He says they are calling this the most wierd weather for 150 years. He says it hasn't rained for 10 days now, and everything is lush and green as can be.

WOW! It's been over 100 here more days than I want to count.
And 'lush' went out the window...

We've only hit the 90's a few times here lately and we should be in the 100's some by now.

In fact, this hasnt' really been a HOT summer....been a dry one though.

Hopefully I'll be out that way in a few weeks and I'll see if all this ' hot' everyone is yapping about is REALLY HOT!!!

I don't care where you are 100+ is dang hot and 110+ is just god awful.. We have not had a hot summer here either, a few hot days here and there but no real big heatwave this summer.. Haven't checked numbers recently, maybe I will do thta but I doubt we have had 6 days in the 90's this summer..

I was wrong, we have had 8 90+ days since June 1st but we have had 20 days since than in the 70's for a high and 1 day in the 60's.. That isn't too common (And I think we have been cooler here than the reporting station)..

Also have 9.5 inches of rain for the month of July, could be why the corn is 12 feet high around here..

We're just not used to this long an extended period of heat-- for the last month we haven't had a day under 90-- no rain-- and now two weeks of 100+ with no real relief in site...

There are a lot of summers that we never get to or break the 100 mark...This definitely ain't one of those....

I think that is why this summer has seemed so mild to me OT... Yeah, we have had 3 days in a row of 90+ but we tend to get these 2 week periods with high 80's to low 100's during the summer... I mean, our normal high for this time of year is probably only 85 degrees but what the heck does that mean anymore?.

The good thing about extended heat is it does help you get used to it... I don't know if that is possible for the heat you are talking about though.. I sure know I have been loving those 78 degree days we have been getting.. Today was another one although the weather folks said it was 83 my car never went into the 80's.

Just think from -40 to +110 , a 150 degree difference.

Who says we aren't adaptable.

OT did you hunt down that Schwans trck today and HIJACK it. Just crawl inside and sit out the heat.

I'd of sure liked too-- spent the afternoon in the air conditioning working on paperwork (and a little nap too as my office is the coolest place in the house).....

My son went with a fire truck to a fire out by one of the housing development areas by Fort Peck Lake-- said they were glad when dispatch called them and told them the locals had it handled- as the heat in that old truck already had them worn out...They pointed their heat indicator into the cab and it showed it was 148 degrees in there

A couple days of reprieve and now back into the Hot zone...Did pick up .5 of rain over the last couple of cooler days.....

No where in the United States do temperatures achieve greater extremes than they do across the North Central states. Record highs for that part of the country are well above 100 degrees, while record lows are far below zero. These extremes occur because the oceans are far removed and play no role in regulating temperature.

Saturday, another surge of heat will spread northward through the Rockies, reaching Montana and the southern Dakotas. The southern portion of the Prairie Provinces of Canada will also be impacted. From there, the heat will expand eastward, encompassing all of the North Central states Sunday and Monday. Areas across the High Plains will reach 100, while most other locations have highs in the mid- to upper 90s.
