The House, by a vote of 285-144 passed the "No Budget, No Pay" measure that ties a temporary suspension of the federal debt limit with the Senate passing a budget. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) called the measure "a plan to balance the budget over the next ten years." The deal would raise the government's current $16.4 trillion debt limit until May 19. In exchange, the House and Senate must pass a budget resolution by April 15 or place members' salaries in an escrow account until the chamber acts.

The bill now goes to the Senate for their consideration.

Or until the end of this Congressional session- when they get their full salaries (plus interest ?) .... Mostly just a dog and pony show illusion bill... Won't mean a thing to all the Millionaire Congressmen- just negatively impacts a few of the common folks left on the Hill... Maybe they are trying to chase those away too :???: ...

I think it's a grand idea to tie performance of duties to compensation in most any line of work.

Argue that, Fatlock.

Except they aren't really losing anything- just convincing the weak of mind that they are...If they actually lost a % of their salary for every day they didn't pass a budget that would be one thing-- but this is just a smokescreen that apparently you buy into...

At least you agree to the premise that it's a great resolution to an ongoing problem.

If it works, it's not a smokescreen. If it doesn't work, it's still a grand idea.

You just hate that the Pubs come up with a truly good proposal, don't you?

The difference between you and I is that if the Dems had proposed it, I would have still approved.

Have you become senile?

You gonna put 'em all on welfare if you do that.

Hopalong we got a high maintenance first lady indeed. She might look as bad as hillary if we don't keep throwing away money for her maintenance.

You mean not pay for all the personal staffers that care for Michelle, to the tune of $1,591,200 per yr? :( :( :( :(

yep... it is the staffers that get things done in DC... and the ones who need their checks... a week or two of with-holding and mountains would move..
