How did you find it?

I was just wondering how everyone found there way to this site. I have rkaiser to thank for introducing me to here and Agriville. Does everyone pontificate elsewhere, or just here? This is an excellent place for discussion.

Been around so long I almost forgot...Think I was surfing the web- googling for cattle questions and came up with the cattletoday site and from there someone posted a ranchers.net link - checked it out- got hooked- then followed along after Macon acquired the site and updated it to this newer site....

When I first got on here most were South Dakotans or Nebraskans- a couple of Montanans -but then along came quite a bunch of Canucks to argue with...Now we have quite a global variance....

Jody Brown from Faith, SD started the original Ranchers.Net. There was an article about his web page in the Tri-State Livestock News, that came out quite a few years ago. I drug my feet for a long time about getting a computer, and didn't want to get involved. My mom bought us our first computer, her line of reason being that our kids needed to grow up with one, because like it or not, the modern age was upon us. It didn't take me long to get hooked on Ranchers.Net. :)

I joined ranchers.net in the early 2000's, after seeing a neighbor who lives a bit East of us at the Blackhills Stock Show, who told me about it. Lazy Ace and I are arguing about what year that was...he thinks 2001 or 2002...I'm sorta leaning toward 2003, but he could be right.

Anyway, I was around before Macon bought/acquired the site, and Jody Brown still owned it.

I also remember the uproar when the forum changed to this format....the change would be the demise of the site and us all. Funny, I bet if polled, all of us who'd been at the "old" forum would take this one anyday, if for no other reason, the pictures.

If I remember correctly, (someone correct me if I'm wrong) one of the reasons for the shift of format, was so no one could "assume" someone else's name and post under it. Another reason was so Macon could keep up with Monitoring better.

This is the only site I'm a member of...it takes too much of my time, most of the time, and the rest of the time, my real life takes too much of my time, and I don't post nearly as often as I would like.

I've truly enjoyed this forum and all the folks we've "met" online and in person, and all the friends I've made. I really enjoy the posts and pictures from folks from all parts of our country and world.

Cheers---

TTB

after a wild weekend of booze, broads, and buffalo at the Ted Turner ranch, I hooked up with this gal who was the life of the party, you know, dancing on the table and losing clothes.... well the whole time I was giving her some of my best moves, I noticed she was on a cattle web site..... so I took a peek at it, and here I am.

at first I was a bit concerned that she typed through the whole episode, but I guess I am getting more out of the Ranchers site than I ever did at Kola's house.......

Someone I know in ANCW posted a thread on Rancher's Net and emailed it to me. I thought it quite interesting. This was before this new and improved forum came about, couldn't post pics in the old one.
