I love accents!

I took an older feller back to New Mexico, years ago. We spent the night in Carrizozo. We walked into a bar to eat a bite and there was a younger couple in there. Of course, we got to visitin'. Finally the lady asked me if I was from SD. I told her I was and then had to ask how she knew. She said she could tell by my accent! I asked how she knew I was from SD and not Neb, Wyo or Mont. She told me that we in SD had a different accent than in those other states. I thought that was real funny.

I just love accents. Pm me you phone number Lilly, so I can call you up and hear you talk Texican.

I know that people around Fargo and up in ND talk a little different than we do. Also my yearling guy in Iowa says a few words different than we do. He doesn't talk about getting a pop to drink, he say's so-dy. As in, "Lets go get a so-dy, to quench our thirst."

Only he wouldn't say quench.

And I sure never mean to make feel bad about their accents. Did I mention, I just love accents?

We say sody water. Not somethin I grew up saying tho, in West Texas no matter what kind it is, ya call it a coke. First time Mr Lilly brought me to East Texas to meet his extended family, and a sody water was mentioned, the first thought that went thru my mind was somethin that tasted like alkaselzer.......I wern't havin no part of that. hehe Didnt take long to learn that it was just their way of referrin to a coke. Now 99% of the time, I say sody water too.

1-900-tawk-txn ................geeze who'da thunk it, I coulda made money doin that.

I too, enjoy accents, even if I'm not sure what is being said.

The thing about Jersey Lilly, she brings her Texas accent to her
posts on this forum, which I think is a feat in itself.
To talk with an accent and then to write with one is nothing short
of amazing!!!!!!

Mr. FH is said to have an accent. I think it is just that slow Wyoming drawl that he grew up with that they are hearing.

Several years ago I was with a buddy of mine ( he's from MT) and we were in The Yellowstone Hotel eating breakfast. The Waitress came up...asked for our order...etc. When she left my buddy turned to me and said, " she's from your part of the world...listen to her talk". Well...I didn't notice anything spectacular about her talk.

When she came back I asked her where she was from...sure enough she was from a town about 40 miles south of where I live and was just working the summer in the hotel. I didn't hear her accent...but he sure heard it.

In fact, I'm coming to WY/SD in a few weeks and I've already email a buddy a video clip where you can hear me so he can get his " ear tuned" ,as he calls it, before I get there!!
