How many 500 - 600lb calves...

...will fit in a 16' trailer? I'm moving some this weekend and the 24'er that I normally use is out of commission. I've been offered a 16'er on a loan, but not sure it will handle the task. My best guess was 10.

Thanks,

Would depend on how far you are going.. I don't think 10 would be too many for what I usually haul because we have put lots of 450-550's in our 24 footer at a time.. How many? Depends on how many we catch and how big they are. They are never too tight though but we also run them when it is cool out so we don't have to worry about heating issues.

Let's put it this way, we can get 15 to 16 on our 20 foot trailer. And that still leaves them some room to move around. So your 4 feet less, so I'd guess about a dozen.

also you might wanna consider the axle weight rating of the trailer,Im thinking about 7000 lbs for a 16 foot, add the weight of the trailer oughta be able to haul 6000 lbs,I think distance and weather
should be considered too.
good luck

Thanks all. I'm only going 20 miles and it's a gooseneck, so if 10-12 will fit, then that's perfect.

Our trailer, 16 x 6 will hold 9-12 calves. Depends on the exact size of the calves.

How wide is it? A lot af 16's are only 5 wide which cuts the room down a bunch. I have a 6x18 and can haul 9500 poundsof calves. That figures out to about 88# per square foot but I don't know if the formula would carry over to a different configuration.
