Christmas Dinner just hubby, I and the two kids.......
How to cut christmas dinner cost??? Have a kid have to make weight two days after christmas...

Childhood memories: My mom was a really big christmas holiday decorator... Our house was beautiful!!!! Jam packed full of decorations.
Lots of presents and you had to make three ligitament guesses before you could open them... We took turns opening one at a time... My mom and sister can look smell and squeeze a fully wrapped present and guess them every time....

My all time favorite memory is my grandmother's seeded cookies... Soft white dough with a raspberry filling and a top with a hole in the middle cut out with a thimble....
Grandma's tiny finger prints where she squeezed the top and bottom filled with raspberry sauce together...... A work of love......

Our two eldest flew in on thursday, so we will be just the five of us.
Before we all left Zim, my three brothers and two sisters all the associated families (exept little sister ) would meet at our parent's house, share in the cleaning up etc. With one brother, little sister and dad gone, any future get-together will seem rather empty, even if the nephews and nieces come with their children.

I for one would enjoy hearing your story andybob. Leaving africa under pressure isn't something I've heard first hand about. Sorry about losing your family members. How did they die if you don't mind me asking? If it's not something you care to talk about, tell me to quit asking.

We will only have 5 for Christmas dinner. We plan to go to Wyoming
to our daughter's and her family.

OHHHHHHH, do I ever remember sitting at a seperate table with the
kids. My folks family were from Iowa and Missouri so we were one
place or the other for Christmas. This particular time it was Iowa,
my grandfather's house. Lots of relatives and lots of kids. Two brothers,
that were my cousins, were incorrigible. We had soup first and
us kids had sat down at our table to eat. Lo and behold one of those
brothers stands up, unzippes his pants and pees in his soup!
I couldn't believe it and ran crying into where the grown-ups
were!!! Of course, he got in trouble, big time!! But dinner was ruined
for everyone!
LOL    can't imagine that one ever!!!   Bet his parents were severely ticked!
Around Christmas time we'd have to eat a formal meal at a great-aunt and great-uncle's house. They never had kids. She was an artist and did fine china painting so their rowhouse was like a museum- everything breakable. Their Christmas tree looked like Better Homes and Gardens, the table looked like Martha Stewart's with every place setting hand painted a different flower, the Christmas creche was large bone china, hand painted of course. My sister and I sat and sat and sat at the table just itching to get down and play but I think my folks were afraid we'd get into mischief. It was a true test of endurance. Now I wish I'd taken notes because theuy were always talked about the old days and had some good stories, none of which I can remember now.
